Customer Reviews for RYOBI 6 Amp Corded 3-1/4 in. Hand Planer with Dust Bag

I bought this to hopefully cut down the time of stripping a 6inx6in beam because my belt sanders wasn't doing the trick. This planer worked wonderfully. I had to make two passes to account for the blade length but overall it definitely made a difference. I rated a 4/5 because the "dust" port often gets clogged with the bag on. After emptying after each pass, I ended up switching to a respirator and no bag. This machine allows you to choose which side the material is extracted. Overall, I would recommend highly.

This was a great little planer until the set screw that's part of the blade assembly backed out while in use. Now the 90 year old solid wood door I was planing paint off of has a 1/4" deep, 12" long gouge down the front of it. I had only used the planer a time or two before that. Until the tool failed, my only complaint was dust collection. It doesn't capture as much of the dust as I would like. And having the bag on the side means that if you start it with that side up, it throws a lot of dust out the bottom.

It is nothing fancy, it gets the job done.

Worked as it should and completed the job I needed it for. Very pleased with the ease of use.

I have not tried to use this since evrytime I want to do woodworking it is so hot in my grage. Hopefully, I can use it next week and then I can add to this review.

I was hopeful this planer would be a good buy. It cuts smooth, it's easy to use, it was a decent price. BUT, it cuts at about a 5-10 degree angle to the left. For my purposes, this is NOT acceptable. IF there was an adjustment, I would have adjusted the tool and been fine. But, as there isn't, and I'm not going to jump through hoops to contact Ryobi only to be told to take/send it somewhere, I returned it the same day I got it. I suggest buying a different planer.

This planer makes quick work of rough wood. I work with cross sections of trees. A planer is necessary for this work. And Ryobi Planer does the job. It saves a lot of sanding.

Only used it one day and I thought it was working fine but started to notice a gouge in the wood. Turns out to be a screw that holds the blade in was coming out and ripping the wood. So I feel like this product is not well made, or durable,

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like the dual exhaust and ease of use to include the edge guide. Functions well for the most part, leaves some blade marks that can be sanded out later. Its a decent product for the price and works well for the occasional DIYer.

Talk about handy and easy to use!! I do a lot of work with rough cut lumber and reclaimed lumber and the portable planer is a plus when it comes to handling odd pieces etc. Happy with the purchase.

Great little hand tool.

After two uses and two weeks, the planer no longer turns on. Suspect the switch but not user serviceable. Not a high quality tool.

It worked for trimming floor beams to put on plywood.

For the price point its a great tool,i especially like the easy depth adjuster knob. Its a tool i will not use every day but happy its part of my tool box

Works great. Easy to read depth Guage. It has a pretty long cord and its not too heavy. I felt safe with the push button start and this one has a dust collection bag. You can switch fro left to right. . Clean up after was simple. I almost went with the more expensive brand, but Robin has been good to me. And I believe I made the right choice again.
