Horrible smell /odor - lasted for quite a while, and difficult to tolerate if you are sensitive to smells. Also paint is different than most paints. It dried quickly so that was good.

We appreciate your feedback! Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Door Paint is designed to dry quickly so that the door can be rehung on the frame sooner. Since this is an oil-based paint, you will also want to apply in an area with proper ventilation.

Oh no, this is not what we like to hear! Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Front Door Paint is loaded with high quality pigment that results in superior coverage and ultimate durability. Before using be sure to stir thoroughly to ensure all settled pigment is re-dispersed. Use a 6½” shed-resistant roller with a ⅜” nap or a high quality brush with flagged (split) ends. For best results, use the roller to paint the entire door or paint the recessed edges of raised panels and then use the roller for the remaining flat surfaces. We would like to hear more about your experience using our Front Door Paint, give us a call at 800-481-4785 and we can try and make things right.

Absolute worst paint product i've ever purchased. I used this on my wooden front door (as it said you could), now it is completely destroyed. I spent double the money trying to recover my front door with stripper, sanding etc. I had to buy a different paint. This was so sticky even after stirring well. It goes on super thick and dries extremely fast so its almost impossible to get even coverage even when using the recommended tools and method. There is a satisfaction warranty, however no instruction on how to get my money back for this product. I literally cried after seeing the end result. DO NOT USE.

That is not what we like to hear! As stated on the product label, we strongly suggest priming wood or metal doors prior to painting with our Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Door Paint. A primer will seal the wood, ensuring an easier application of the Door Paint, and even coverage. We will be happy to help you with the necessary steps to correct this application, and assist you with our Satisfaction Guarantee. Please give us a call at 800-481-4785, we want to try to make things right! - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 Rustoleum

I purchased this product in very late July 2017 so I can't return the 2 quarts, one unopened the other very sparingly used. I have painted a great deal over the years around my house and restoration projects. This paint is by far the worst I've ever used. Several years ago Rust-Oleum and other manufacturers were forced to change their formulas and this may be the end result. I tried painting some floor registers, removed, sanded and primed in my room temperature work shop where the paint was also stored. When mixing it I thought the paint seemed "thin" and when I applied it I was getting an almost transparent very thin application. The paint did not sit well on the surface and actually ran in spots. After 24 hours I light sanded the surface and much of the paint actually came off. I was using 220 sandpaper and going over the register lightly. I tried a second coat with the same terrible result. On hindsight the primer I purchase in-store a few days before usage was also applying somewhat thin but not as much as the paint. If I was using this on a bigger project such as a door it would have been unfortunate with a much bigger mess on my hands.

Thank you for sharing your experience, Don! For the best results with Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Door Paint, we recommend applying only when air and surface temperatures are above 50-90°F and the humidity is below 85%. It is essential to thoroughly stir the product before use and use a 6½” shed-resistant roller with a ⅜” nap or a high-quality brush with flagged (split) ends for the best results.

This paint dries extremely fast making it impossible to paint a large door evenly with a brush. It is also not suitable for spraying because it constantly clogs the equipment.

That is not what we like to hear, Roy! Our Stops Rust Door Paint should dry to the touch in 1-2 hours, if the paint is drying too quickly it may be thinned up to 5% by volume using xylene. We recommend applying this paint using a 3/8" shed-resistant roller, or a high-quality brush with flagged or split ends to achieve a smooth finish. Rustoleum

          Not as described
I purchased this door paint to change the color of my steel front entrance door and corresponding trim. I sanded and primed the areas to be painted. For the trim, I used a quality brush, made for oil based paints. The paint was difficult to work with and became tacky quickly, making it difficult to go back over areas. The paint also drips easily. My biggest problem is the sheen of the paint. It is not even close to being a satin finish. It is high gloss, almost looking like nail polish. I will be returning it to the store. I'll have to start from scratch. Very disappointed.

Glad to lend a hand! Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Door Paint should be applied when the air and surface temperature is 50-90ºF and the humidity is below 85% to ensure proper drying. To extend the dry time and allow for the proper sheen to develop, we recommend adding water up to 5% by volume. Rustoleum

Best paint ever. Holds up to anything. Please continue to sell it. Clear sealed a leak on my sunroom roof. I painted a fireplace and a big coffee table with the red.
