I was looking for a spreader to replace my Scott’s drop spreader which had 3 things wrong with it. Scott decided to refund it because there was a part they couldn’t replace. Rather than get another drop spreader I decided to buy this type of spreader and while there I saw the Elite. It cost a lot more but it appeared to be a better. Boy am I glad I bought it! Holy cow what a difference! This spreader is well worth the money! It has twin spreaders at the bottom which spread out 5 to 6ft and unlike the drop spreader you actually see it spreading the material. When getting close to gardens there’s an edge protector that prevents it from going into the garden. I am so happy with it I can’t say enough. Spend the extra few dollars and buy this elite spreader you will not be disappointed!

BEST SPREADER I HAVE EVER HAD

This is a nice solid spreader. The oversized wheels are great. My issue is with the agitator mechanism. The agitator is simply the two cotter pins connected to the plastic spreader discs. It spreads the product in a very uneven pattern. My old Scotts Mini Broadcast Spreader did a better job.

There’s nothing elite about the spreader! To begin with, it’s very difficult to find a spreader settings for fertilizer or seed, including Scotts seed and fertilizer. Scott’s recommended broadcast settings do not work on this machine. If you try to use the common recommended settings on Scott’s product, you’ll end up spreading too much fertilizer. Not only that, the distribution of product is incredibly irregular. Check out the photos I posted. In spreading Scotts seed this fall the spreader would lay down one thick strip down the middle of the path and very little product to the sides. I can’t tell you how disappointed I am in the spreader. Avoid it.

Bolts loosened and were falling out during the first use. The lack of settings information for non-Scott’s products is also disappointing. It would be helpful to get a general idea of which setting for lime for example

I purchased my Scotts Elite Spreader two years ago in October and I spread Scotts products as directed on the Scotts App. My lawn looks better than it did in all the years prior to using the Scotts spreader. Thank you Scotts!

I bought this and just opened box look fo manual or instructions. Need a magnifying glass to read these!

First off the lever is on the left side, but it blocks spreading weed and feed on the right side. But the edge gard does not contain the right side spread, it blocks it and it drops straight down to the grass . I have burn trails everywhere I used the Edge gard lever.

I feel spoiled using this, it even has an edge guard, that helps keep even lines while spreading. The knob has an array of options and settings for the perfect lawn. Assembly was easy, came with the pins to attach the wheels and I was up and running in seconds. Has a nice convenient spot for my phone, which also displays an option for an app. I was able to run my whole lot seamlessly from assembly to finish. The feeder trigger has a light pull so my hands didn’t get tired and also the handle has padding so no blisters. Very comfortable operation.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my first experience with a broadcast spreader. My lawn is @ 18-20,000 sq ft. With a drop spreader it takes about an hour to spread Scotts Turf Builder. With the 'ELITE' spreader it reduced spread time. This item was easy to assemble, is easy to manuever and is light weight. Many features...such as EdgeGuard, which protects non-lawn areas from fertilizer, stainless steel components, and the large hopper are all a plus. The ELITE spreader has other features such as the cell phone bracket, large wheels and a calibration dial to assure accurate application of product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Elite Spreader is very easy to setup and very lightweight - can pick up the entire unit with two fingers. The large wheels make it easy to go over divots in the lawn and the coverage uniformity with a dual feed hopper is much better than the smaller spreaders I have used before. The hopper also will hold up to a 50lb bag. I have tested lawn fertilizer granules and grass seed with good success once you decide the right adjustment - there are actually 10 size adjustments to choose from. It also has an 'Edge Guard' that you can deploy from the handle to keep fertilizer or grass seed off of a landscape planting bed, and the coverage is still uniform.

I used this along with some Scotts Turf Builder to try to thicken my front lawn. Build quality seems to be durable and I have no worries that it will break within the next couple of years.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This spreader can easily hold a big bag of lawn seed, fertilizer etc. It spreads very well. I have a smaller lawn so I was done spreading after 3 passes. My lawn is about 2500 square feet in the front and close to the same amount in the back. Before I was using the Scott handheld spreader which really I thought did a good job just took a little more walking. This spreader is easy to maneuver and the tires moved smoothly across my lawn which has more dips than I would like. I liked that it has a holder for your cell phone in the front. This is definitely good for a large size lawn but for a smaller lawn, I'm not sure such a large spreader is needed. However, if you are looking to save time then this spreader will do it for you. Be careful to follow directions on setting and the pass width. It does throw out a lot of seed so if you are not careful you can use too much and you will be running to the store for more seed.

First off you can download the app. That gives you tips on how to care for your lawn. There is an actual phone holder too. The edge guard is perfect for those spots where your grass cuts off. There is a lock so you can keep the grass spreader on or off. You have a dial to set how light or low to disperse seed. This magnificent design has all terrain wheels to get over the lawn with ease and durable tires to run over just about anything. We had our seed spread throughout the lawn in no time!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Although my backyard isn’t very large, I have many areas where I want to avoid spreading fertilizer, grass seed, etc.. This has always been a problem with previous spreaders. To keep fertilizer and grass seed out of my flower beds, pool, and gazebo, I would be forced to throw it out by hand. I never felt it was evenly spread. With the edger feature, this spreader is incredibly easy to use and keeps products out of unwanted areas. This spreader applies an even layer of product to a large area in a very short time. Scott’s definitely nailed it with this spreader.

This spreader not only holds more product, it’s design and larger solid wheels actually makes it easier to push. Add the wider 6 foot spread cuts down on numbers of steps needed with each application. The edge feature keeps product off driveway and out of garden beds. Definitely worth getting.

I found very easy to put together just add wheel in 3 second. It evenly spread the seed on the grass surface without clogging the system. I also like that can work with a app also can control the amount of seed spread in a area with the dial that save you money . I found be easy machine use for anyone and my neighbors was very interested in look at to buy for themselves. I received this has a complimentary and will enjoy use it for many years to come also very easy to clean .

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This spreader is 10x better then the one it replaced. First off the broadcast is a lot further cutting down the application time. Next the size of the tray now allows me to complete my entire lawn where as before I would had to fill it three times to complete my lawn. The cell phone holder is also a plus. I love this thing and have recommended it to my neighbors already !

Cheap easily breakable plastic parts, nuts bolt and washers should be stainless steel but they’re all rusty so can’t take apart to fix the stuff that breaks like the plastic axle gear. The edge guard wire also rusted and snapped. Horrible purchase. I was better off with your hand-crank Handy Green 2.

I purchased this spreader in late summer 2019 to replace an Edgeguard mini, due to purchasing a home with a larger yard. With the Spreader having a higher price point, large capacity and being labeled “elite”, I assumed it would be at least we as good, or better, than previous models. I was wrong. The chutes that open to allow product to fall down do not open evenly and there is no way to adjust it. The right side opens more than the left. Also, because this is a dual spreader with 4 chute openings, the actual space for fertilizer to fall through is tiny. Most of the products have an application rate of 3.5 - 4.5, but that small of an opening doesn’t allow the prills to flow smoothly, so it clogs often. On top of that, when it does broadcast, it does not seem to do so evenly. I’m fearful of developing streaks in my lawn. The paint job starting flaking almost immediately to reveal rusted metal beneath and the little orange “hubcaps” pop off while pushing it. If you are looking for a upscale residential spreader to take “your game” to the next level, skip over this product.

Poor quality sums it up. I bought this spreader at the end of the last lawn season (September 2018), with the intent to use it this year. I opened it up yesterday, and assembled it. It seemed to do a good job until about halfway through my yard, when the spreaders stopped spinning. I spotted a piece of a metal pin on the ground, which ended up being the pin in the wheel that drives the spreaders. Now it looks like I have to waste my time finding a screw or something to put in place, since I can't find my receipt from last fall. I don't see how the engineers could have designed this without noticing this weak point in the assembly. It's likely they DID notice it and just didn't care. What is so hard about offering customers a quality product and still making a profit? Bottom line: buy the very cheapest spreader you can find, or spend more for a REAL quality spreader, as this is definitely not an elite spreader. I am truly disappointed in this spreader.

This thing is cool! I had forgotten how handy the border shield is. It has been a few years since I had a spreader with one. The fact that this one can be engaged and disengaged via a lever up on the handle is very convenient. Engage it, run your border pass, disengage it and do your fill in passes. The dual feeds and spreaders are nice to, but you have to pay attention to make sure IF one of them gets blocked, you notice before you go too far. With a single feed it is obvious when the flow isn't correct. The other small things that I like are the shape of the resting legs and the height of the handle. The legs don't catch on the yard as much as my older flat bar did. I'm 6' tall and the extra length of the handle makes it more comfortable to use this spreader. I've attached pics to show the side-by-side comparison.

This spreader is relatively easy to assemble. I had a few issues with the pins for the wheels, but a few quick, subtle bends and it went much smoother. See the photos. Other than that, assembly was easy. Spreader puts down a very wide, even spread of whatever is inside. It also has the "EdgeGuard" technology which allows the spreader to spread with a hard edge - no material into a flower bed, pavement, etc.! This feature is top notch, and works well. The handle is comfortable, and has a phone holder. Maybe a little much, but everything seems to come with one of those. Overall a great spreader, even though it's on the higher end of pricing, it definitely is worth it.

This new Scotts Elite spreader is really great to due to several new design features: - two impellers and four outlet holes to get the fertilizer out of the bucket faster (see picture) - wider 10” tires (see picture) that were very easy to install and that work well over uneven terrain - a new edge guard (see picture) that flips out on the side to block non-lawn areas - well-designed large bucket for the fertilizer so it feeds well into both impellers – no flat spots - large, easy to use control (see picture) to adjust flow; just turn the orange knob I only needed to install the tires with two cotter pins, insert the two hubcaps, and then flip up the handle and tighten two large plastic wing nuts (see picture) to get this spreader up and running! This is far better to use than the single impeller with one outlet hole I had on my old spreader – well worth it to upgrade! It comes with a handy chart to adjust the fertilizer flow for the whole range of Scotts lawn products, from seed and fertilizer to even ice melt, so it is a tool you can use all four seasons. I highly recommend it!

An excellent residential spreader. I have about 5,500 sq ft of St Augustine grass and this spreader is perfect, not only for my size yard, but it can easily handle a much larger area. Assembly was simple, attach the wheels, unfold the handle and tighten the wing-nuts, set the distribution rate, fill and go. It took me about 25 minutes to assemble and do a quick test run on the front lawn. I really like the distribution settings, it can handle a very fine broadcast to very coarse (2-15 in half increments). It has an edge guard along the right side. The guard is controlled by a handle mounted, cable lever, easily controlled while spreading (no stopping required). It holds lots of product, is nicely balanced, easy to use and the wheels are a nice size that can easily handle tall grass, rough spots in the lawn, etc. This spreader has a large broadcast pattern which gets the product evenly distributed quickly. It's a nice upgrade for me from my tired, dated old spreader. I recommend this product.
