It took awhile to figure out how to put it together, but once it was figured out it became easy. I was worried that the Red Cedar boards were not thick enough to be solid and strong, but once put together between the 4X4 posts it did become solid. One groove was off so had to be redone.

My contractor opened the box and was shocked at how thin the boards are. He found several of the railings were split and the wood was damp. I would not recommend this product as it will shrink and is flimsy. Thanks to Home Depot for their return policy as we will not be putting this fence up...very disappointed in the quality.

I had a professional install these panels around my yard last year, and within a month or so, it was falling apart with boards warping, splitting and shrinking. I had to add additional horizontal strips to hold some of the boards in place. The wood is way too thin - only 1/4 inch, even though the specs say it is .55 inch, it is NOT. Some of these boards are split so badly they need replaced, but none of the lumber supply houses carry anything this thin. I am greatly disappointed with the quality of the panels, and when I called home depot and asked to have someone come out and look at what has happened, they declined to do so. Let the buyer beware ! Do not buy this inferior product. Buy thicker boards fro a lumber supply house and have someone do it right. Panels are NOT the way to go. And it was not cheap either ! My rating would be less than one, if the option was available.

Fence is pretty. The pieces were all warped which required 2 people and a clamp to put it all together. The tongue-n-grove is so thin that the boards break easily. Other Signature Development products use the same thin tongue-n-groove. The previous brand carried by Home Depot was much better built.

This seemed like the way to go at first, but now I wish that I had not bought these pre-fabricated fence panels! After one winter they look all faded, except for where the stain bled into the boards at the tops, and the boards shrunk so the tongue and groove no longer fits correctly and they are starting to pop out. Now it looks pretty ugly, and provides only the illusion of security because a small child would be strong enough to push the boards out of place, and I am going to have to buy more cedar boards and repair it. I would recommend buying properly dry and cured wood and building your own fence.

Really love the look of panels
We purchased 2 panels to check on quality prior to purchasing more. We installed 160' of split rail along one side of our property and need to finish off with another 180' of privacy fence. While i concur with some of the other reviews that pieces sustain damage during shipment, what i saw would not stop me from futher investment. We had a cracked bottom board likely due to way boxes were handled in transit. Box arrive with some corner damage. After stain is applied and after we install another board to Minimize the gap underneath, damage will not even be noticeable. Very excited to see how this project is going to continue filling out. Stain really makes woodgrain POP. How each board accepts stain can create illusion that you have used different colors. In pic, we used "natural cedartone".

Very nice quality. Assembly requires some effort but is simple. That said the price seems a little high for what it is but conversely, pre-assembled with shipping /delivery would have been similar. FYI: For my project, I only needed the fence section to be 5ft wide (across). I was able to omit some of the slide in panels (in both the top section and the larger bottom section) and still assemble the it using the outside frame work. The horizontals outside framing pieces had to be shortened to 5ft (easy) and the slide in solid pieces had to be re-sized (more difficult and of course other tools and know how were needed) but it is doable.

The owner of this company includes his personal cellphone number in the delivery instructions and says give him a call with any issues. We were missing one piece in one of nine boxes. I called, he picked up on the first ring, and the piece was in the Fedex system within a half hour.

This fence is lovely. We are sealing the wood with an oil sealer, and the color is gorgeous. Slats seem a bit thin and fragile, but are sturdy inside the frame. We were missing one piece, and the packing slip had a message from the manufacturer with his personal email, asking to give him a call with any concerns. I called him, he answered, and - I kid you not - within one hour the replacement piece was already shipped with a tracking number. No questions asked. What a pleasant and helpful guy, who really cares about his product.

            Simple and lovely.
58 yr old, single mom, psychotherapist-I built it as a garbage can privacy panel. Use the HD video in conjunction with the written instructions and it will be smooth sailing. It took me less than 70 minutes to build. I added wood glue to some of the joints. I just wish they offered some ideas for the best post specs to attach it to.

              Nice fence design
The fence kit is fairly simple to assemble.the instructional video is a good approach and the manufacturer gives his personal number for help. The only downside is that the wood is not cut to more precise measurements and it is not finish smooth.

Very simple assembly and installation. Would certainly consider when the rest of the fence needs replacement.

                Plan on cutting extra wood
We bought 4 kits and 3 out of the 4 had miss cut bottom rails, so we had to run out to Home Depot to purchase 3 pcs. 2 x 4 S4S cedar boards and mill them to correct size in order to complete them.

                disappointed
Not sure what I expected, but i didn't expect the warping and splitting less than 2 weeks after installing it. all the vertical boards are tongue and groove. they have all separated. the horizontals are warping despite being fastened per the instructions. If you do order this, order and extra kit since you're bound to have damaged pieces shipped. i really wanted to like the product. I'm just disappointed there are gaps everywhere now.

                very attractive, easy to assemble
Very attractive panels. Assembly relatively simple (especially after the first one). Found out from manufacturer's website that these are made of wood that would otherwise be scrap, so sustainable, too. Only problem I had seems to be a packing issue. One small subpanel in each of three I ordered was pulled apart somewhat, appeared to be during shipping. I was able to repair them, but the manufacturer should address this.

                Beautiful fence, a few suggestions
Though I have some reservations, overall, I'm very happy with the fence. I installed three panels over Memorial Day weekend and may order a 4th when they're back in stock. My wife and I teamed up Friday night to assemble each panel. We only finished one, mainly because we were literally working in the dark. Saturday morning, we were able to assemble the other 2 panels in a little over half an hour. Next, extending slightly beyond 19'-4" (allowing for the 4-inch width of each post), I pounded in temporary "batterboard" stakes and stretched a string along where I wanted the vertical face of the fence to be. I then attached a 50-cent line level to each end-stake to determine the total vertical drop of 16 inches. After asking my wife to adjust the start & end point to her liking (which ended up moving the entire setup nearly 3 feet uphill), I sunk the first 4x4x8 cedar post on the downhill end and sloped the concrete base away from the post to slow the decay process. Though I really wanted to get it done, I forced myself to allow the Quikrete at the first post base to cure. On Monday, based on the guide string, I determined that the first (downhill) panel would have a 10-inch gap at the bottom of that first post. That might seem too large a gap at the base in your situation, but in mine, it proved well worth it for the 78.5-inch visual barrier it left at the top. To set the 3 uphill posts, I used post spikes rather than setting them in concrete. I found those to be another great product. Went with "medium duty" which is a 30-inch spike and is a step up from "mailbox post" grade. We had to sand the bottom corners of each cedar 4x4 to get them into the post-spike sleeve and even then, the resulting fit was very tight. (Presumably because they're rough-cut instead of dimensional, the cedar posts I used are at least 1/4-inch beefier than 4x4x8 PT pine posts). To give me a starting point to easily mount the panels, I pre-cut six 1.5"x4" blocks from pine grade stakes I had on hand and used the guide string to screw each block to the inside face of each post so that the top of each block acted as a "rest-ledge" when guiding each 50-lb panel into a level-and-plumb position between the corresponding posts. It helps to then re-check the slope between each post. As noted, in my case, there was a rise of 10 inches under Panel 1, then 3 inches at the bottom of panels 2 & 3. The jerry-rigged pine ledger blocks proved to be such a time saver that it would be a nice touch if future kits included two cedar blocks per panel. If you prefer, you can discard the ledger blocks after the fence is complete. In a final step when preparing to mount each assembled panel, I pre-drilled 3 holes in each vertical frame using a 1/4" bit. When each panel was in place, I attached it between the posts with 2.5-inch, yellow-coated star-head screws. The choice of screws was accidental, but the no-strip mechanical (torque) advantage of the star-head proved to be another major time-saver, and the coating blends very well with the cedar. (If the manufacturer will provide those screws in lieu of brass Phillips-head screws in future kits, that will be another nice service.) When all three panels were attached, I used a tri-square to make a horizontal mark 4 inches above the top of each "uphill" panel on three sides, then got on a stepladder with my battery-powered reciprocating saw. I used PT pine post caps but you may prefer copper or black. My wife was highly skeptical of the stepped-down look but is pleasantly surprised at the beauty of the finished product. Though I admit being somewhat disappointed in the thickness (or lack thereof) of the vertical T&G panels within the 7 pre-assembled frames that come with each kit, this is a unique and visually-appealing product, and as another reviewer noted, I found myself enjoying assembling each panel. Aside from A) Including ledger blocks & B) Providing coated star-head screws, I suggest that the manufacturer should C) Pre-drill at least 4 screw holes in the bottom of the bottom tee, D) Revise your kit instructions to start with assembly of the bottom "tee" using construction adhesive, followed by screws, which will allow the construction adhesive to start doing its job while you're assembling the rest of the kit, and E) Add a tiny sticker to each of the 5 vertical panels to confirm the order in which they're supposed to be installed, which will save even your most mechanically-savvy customers 10-15 minutes of head-scratching / trial & error.
