I'm building a raised bed inside a basic cube of 4x4s measuring 12'x12'x7' so I needed these to attach the 4x4s to each other. I was VERY happy with them but at first I ordered too few and had to order about 16 more. I was annoyed because I found out then that they really don't have these in store. I looked at 5 different stores and two said they had them in stock but when I went there they did not even have a space for them. I did not mind the trips but it was annoying that I had to stop my project for a week while I waited for the extra screws to come in. Having said all of that, they work GREAT for 4x4 cedar posts. My structure is free standing (no buried posts) and it is VERY solid. I put 2 screws at a diagonal where the 4x4s meet and they are well held in place. Don't forget to drill pilot holes first. Not sure if they are needed but these screws are thick so they might crack the 4x4s if you did not pre-drill.
