The effectiveness may vary based on the amount of water in your pond or how ofter you are topping up your fountain with new water due to evaporation/splashing since the more new water you add the more it gets diluted. -SLHG

Bought this product for use in a small (four gallon) fountain and so far I haven't been overly impressed. The water still gets cloudy and a scum builds up. What I'm not sure about is that maybe things could be worse without this product. So far I have not seen the green algae buildup that I have seen in the past, so perhaps it is working better than I realize.

Thank you for your feedback and review. For four gallons, perhaps 2 pods may be better. You can clean and scrub your fountain, refill with fresh water and add 2 pods. Would be curious to see how that helps! Best, SLHG Team

I am very pleased, so far, with how clear these pods keep my fountain & birdbath waters. Of course, it keeps the fountain in better shape than the birdbath because the birdies are not 'bathing' in it & leaving their little 'deposits' in it like they do in their birdbath, but it does help maintain birdbath water clarity, too.
The fountain takes a little over a gallon of water when filled, & the dropped in pod desolves fast & lasts a month; unless you need to drain your fountain for relocating it, the pod's effect lasts even with the adding of water due to evaporation.

This did not work for my fountain. I have a 50 gallon fountain. I added one tablet and I still had algae grow within a week. I added another tablet, but the algae continued to grow.

Hi Tami, 50 gallons is a really big fountain. I'd say 2 or 3 tablets might be more appropriate. For best results, it is best to (1) scrub the fountain clean (2) add fresh water, and (3) add the tablets in to prevent algae growth. Hi Havana, the fountain fresh is designed to prevent algae growth in water. We recommend cleaning the birdbath thoroughly and then dropping a pod in to prevent algae growth. It is not an algeacide as it is a non-toxic product so it will not clean the water if it's already dirty. Also one pod is effective for up to 25 gallons, just in case you are trying to use it in a fish pond that is larger than that. Hi Debbie, sorry to hear that. Our Fountain Fresh is designed to be placed into clean water to help prevent algae from growing. If you placed it into water that was already dirty it will not kill the algae to clean the water since it is not an algaecide.
