The door is beautiful; hinge placement is difficult. I used the Ryobi hinge mortising kit, which works great. If I had it to do again I would ONLY mortise the top hinge first, then trace the bottom two hinges while still on the door jam onto the door, MAKING SURE THEY ARE PLUMB AND THE EXACT SAME DISTANCE FROM THE JAM TRIM. Then, and only then, would I take the door off and mortise the bottom two hinges on the new door. Hinge placement is the difficult part. Oh, and don't forget that you need to slightly bevel the lockset side of the door when you cut it to the correct width(with the trailing edge being higher) about 2 or 3 degrees; otherwise, you may have trouble closing the door.

Doors were exactly what I expected. They look great stained up and match well with the existing trim.

The doors are beautiful and heavy. They arrived on time and look great installed. Haven’t decided on a stain color yet but they do need stain.

Doors are built well and attractive, only suggestion I have is during shipment somehow minor dentson 2 of the 5 doors occurred. carton ripped in several locations however I am skilled enough andrepaired same. suggest doors edges be packed with stronger material.

They need to come in more sizes, I had to cut this one down a couple inches to make it fit.

Excellent quality all around, appear exactly as advertised, look great installed. One of them got a little dinged in shipping but sanded easily. Very heavy which is what I wanted.

Love them. Waiting for warmer weather to come in and buy stain to finish them.

These are very solid, heavy wt oak doors. They are unfinished and ready for staining. The wood grain is excellent. They are surely better in structure and appearance than the hollow core lauan doors they replaced

We were accidentally sent a pine door instead of an oak door first. How that happened one can only guess but someone obviously did not know their wood when they packed it for shipping because crate it was in even said it was oak. We returned it and placed the order again. Now that we have our oak door and it is installed, I am thrilled because it is absolutely beautiful. There was a lot of extra waiting involved with having to re order the door but in the end, it was well worth it. My only complaint is that there was a very small bit of damage that happened during shipping to one side close to the bottom corner of door. My husband took a little extra effort to repair this when he was staining the door and it is totally unnoticeable now which is why I still gave the door a 5 star rating.

The door is as described. It is of good quality and finishes beautifully. It is veneer on a composite substrate and is very heavy. It takes a while to receive this so plan ahead.

The door is beautiful and easy to install. Only problem, every time we order another door, Home Depot jacks up the price...

These oak doors are very well made. The grain of the oak is beautifully matched, and all cuts are extremely sharp and precise. They require virtually no sanding. I wish they had a pre-hung version, but for the price it's worth it to make your own doorjambs.

Pros: Looks like a solid oak door Was made underside by about 1/8 to 3/16" making it easily installable into a pre-hung door frame so no need to pay to have it trimmed to install it like other manufacturers doors only sold in true 1" increment sizes (exactly). Solid and sturdy, and heavy. Cons: Title for door describes "solid core oak door" but is not solid oak as implied. The panels appear to be solid oak, and if they are veneer, like the outside frame, the maker did a good job of hiding it. I would have to scratch it to find out. Since the panels are shaped, it seems they are solid oak, as it would be difficult to slap the thin layer of oak over them like the frame of the door. The frame has a very thin, approx. 1/64" layer of oak glued to a 1/8" backing material on top of a Douglas Fir core. Not made in US, but in guess where....C! You think you are buying American made, but wrong. Too bad the maker can't figure out how to make them here in the US, even if the price was 10-20% higher. Did not know this until I saw the label on the bottom of door. Packaged well in a cardboard box, unlike many other slab doors that come dirty and uncovered. It is described as LVL, but what does that stand for? L??? V??? Laminate? Overall it is a decent price, but I would not buy it again since I thought I was getting a SOLID OAK door, not a cheap veneer door with a thin layer of oak.

This is a very heavy, solid interior door. So far I've purchased five of these oak door slabs as replacements for masonite doors. The quality and appearance have been very consistent. I followed the finishing directions provided and have been very pleased with the results. For the price, there is no comparable product that I know of. I've been using the Ryobi hinge, door handle and door latch kits with consistent functionality. Using those kits and following the advice given in the home depot interior door installation video, all of the installs have been quick and easy.

I'm in the process of replacing all of our interior doors with Steve and Sons doors. The product arrives with spot-on finishing guidance. HD has some good video tips on mortising and hanging a replacement door which was helpful with the first one. Highly recommend a router and a jig or hinge mounting kit (Ryobi has a decent one), especially if you're doing more than one or two doors. Door slabs themselves are top notch, heavy and true. Boring for hardware takes patience because of the solid wood, but fit and function have been outstanding. My recommendations: take your time, measure at least twice before you cut/drill/bore and follow the finishing guidance on the little yellow sticker on the bottom of the slab.

These doors are ready to finish, lite sanding, stain, and varnish to a great look. I did 3of these door and all turned out perfect. All edges were crisp, and panels flat. Good product. I looked at a lot of door Mfgs and retail stores and found them at HD.

It was rather easy to finish and install. I love how it looks and plan to change out all my interior doors to these.

I bought these doors to use for a "barn door" look. I have stained them and they are beautiful.
