The T. W. Evans Cordage sisal rope (3/8 inch x 100 ft.) meets the level of being pet safe and that suited my project of repairing a scratching post for my cat. Thanks.

Cat scratching rope
Hands down the best sisal rope for cat scratching posts. I used 200' on my cat tree project. 3/8" thickness is longer lasting and very strong

Used the sisal rope to replace similar sisal rope on my cat's scratching post saving approximately $35 for a new post. The rope was wound around the center of the post. The cat loves the refurbished post.

I ordered this top replace the sisal rope on a cat tree. I had gotten some other sisal and it smelled like petroleum and my cat wouldn't touch it. I ordered this because it is supposed to be pet friendly and doesn't smell like petroleum and I certainly would agree. The 1/4" size was a little larger than what originally came on my cat tree but I was ok with that because I didn't have to wrap it around the post as many times. My cat seems to be content with it also and she is very particular!

I used this rope for decorative handles for a dual bottle wine holder I made. The rope is fairly easy to cut with scissors but does start to fray (unwind) after cutting. If you need the ends to stay together, wrap a couple layers of duct tape around the rope and cut rope next to the tape.

Great. Used it to wrap around a cat scratching post. Cat loves it. Looks great. 100 ft was enough to wrap a 4" post that is 33" high, plus a little left over. Need to get more though to finish wrapping the other posts.

My cats had an old scratching board which they finally managed to destroy completely; therefore, I built one with some improvements (my opinion, not my wife's). I needed some sisal rope to wrap around, a strong one that could put up with the cats for as long as possible. I looked around but all I could find was small rolls. Finally I found that Home Depot had 100 ft of sisal rope which could be bought on line and picked up at the store so I took advantage of this and in just a few days I had the cordage. The rope is very strong, well twisted so few fibers stick out of it and looks very strong. I don't need it for hanging any thing but it probably can stand a lot of pounds. It certainly meets my expectations!

cats love it
This works great to repair cat scratching post. However, it was rather thick for the job and I ended up untwisting it and using one strand. The 1/4 inch would have been better. However, you do get lots of extra rope, so if you have the patience to untwist it this is the best bang for you buck. You get 300 ft.

The 665ft roll is not sisal, it is hanequen.
This won't make a difference for most, but buyers should be aware that hanequen is softer and less durable than sisal. It is produced from a different variety of agave plant.

The cats are happy
Like many others here, I used this to wrap posts on a cat tree. The cats enjoy the rope. Unlike some other reviews, I did not detect any odor.
