The shovel was delivered damaged. I was told someone would contact me and replace it, but no one ever did.

A great shovel. Bought one before, my neighbor used it and loved it. Just bought another, this time for my neighbor as a thank you and laughingly, he looks forward to using it this winter.

Nice ergonomic snow shovel. Heavier than the plastic shovel but tougher.Good for gravel driveway.

Great price for a metallic shovel. Only poly is the T handle end.

The ratings would be Excellent but the recent Snow literally stuck to the shovel.

The screws holding the blade to the handle came out after only a couple of uses, and the aluminum portion of the handle bent out of shape. I tried replacing the screws, but they kept falling out. This was a very disappointing shovel. I returned it after just a few uses. So pathetic that it didn't even last through 1 season.

Good shovel, needs a better blade. I have had two of them come off.

After reading about short screws and the failures caused thereby, I decided to just re-drill new holes and install pass through bolts. I added 6 screws to the pan. Aluminum pan edges are razor blade sharp so I smoothed them down. Now it’s a great shovel.

The shovel is sturdy and comfortable. The only problem is the screw holding the blade to the handle came loose. I replaced it with a bolt and nut.

Handle broke off immediately.

Shovel works great. The problem is the steel wear bar. It only lasts for 2 seasons then I have to spend another $40 to buy another one just because of the wear bar. Where can I buy a replacement wear bar?

Sturdy and easy to use

I strongly believe this is the only shovel Home Depot should sell! It's incredibly better built and more durable than the alternatives while being almost the same cost or sometimes cheaper!

I picked this shovel over others because the handle was not made of plastic. I have had past shovels with plastic break on me. The edge is sharper than the others in the store too. I bought this at the store in person.

As was stated in other reviews, the plastic collet between the shovel and the handle broke after one light usage during a 2” snowstorm. I will make a repair since I do like the design of the blade. It is a shame that a reputable company like Ames has not developed a solution to this defect.

Tried to get this 2 years ago and it was sold out! Glad I was able to get it

1.Snow sticks to the shovel even after spraying with silicone spray. 2.The rivet on steel blade wears out very quickly,they did send me a new blade with the rivets,but it wore out again in the same short time span. i bought it thinking it would last several winters but that was not the case.

First time using it I lost one of the sheet metal screws holding the handle on. The second time I used it the other one came out. Since there is no warranty I’m going to have to drill the handle and put bolts through it.

Anybody with a lick of common sense can visually see..the screws connecting handle to blade,are worthless.I drill these out ,replace with heavy duty bolt with locking washers & nut. Have had mine for over 5 yrs and just now ordering second one. It's a shame the company doesnt actually listen to its customers,and change the design.Profit margins must be high on the list over correcting the issue.

Handle came off within first few uses, but fixed with self drilling screw. Biggest issue is weight...just threw it over into the woods after 10 minutes...far too heavy and snow sticks to it making it a literal workout tool. Stick with the cheap plastic shovels...heavy duty for short duration removal.

Can't wait for the snow.

I really wanted a great shovel so searched locally and online in my smaller community. The ergonomic shape of the handle, and edge to handle breaking up hard crust snow is why I bought this model. I'm a 5'5" strong woman who has shoveled a lot of snow in my life, and knew as soon as this was delivered that it was poorly designed: the shape of the handle is ergonomic, but only if you are about 5'2" tall given the handle+blade length is too short, and it's ridiculously heavy at 5.5 lbs. I returned it immediately. My local Home Depot in a small community carried few shovels, all crappy; I was not going to take an hour to drive to another city and back to buy a shovel. So I went to the local family owned hardware store: they ordered True Temper's 18 in. Ergonomic Mountain Mover Snow Shovel for me (that Home Depot would not ship to me, but carries in stock in the larger cities in my region) and that shovel is great! It has the same ergonomically shaped handle with an overall longer length of a couple inches and weighs an appropriate 3 lbs. The difference in length doesn't seem huge as a number, but given the shape of the handle it makes a huge difference in how you would actually hold it to shovel snow.

This is the best shovel ever made, used it once and that's all I needed to use it for, it got the ice that other shovels couldn't, it proved to be worthy of $40, it paid for itself with the jobs it can do
