Love the skylight, hate the fact Velux charges as much...
Love the skylight, hate the fact Velux charges as much for the flashing kit as they do for the skylight. That was ridiculous.

Velux skylights
I ordered it to be self flashed and it came outta the box needing the top flashing piece.

VELUX Fixed Deck-Mount Skylights (model FS) are not designed to be self-flashing and will require an additional flashing kit for our 10-year No Leak warranty.
We do not have a 14 1/2 x 45 3/4 self flashing model, but you may consider a slightly larger model known as the QPF 2246. You can view details on the QPF 2246 at the following link: https://www.homedepot.com/p/202038766

These are marvelous, well-made skylights that even close themselves when it rains. I've had one for two years and love it--this one is for the new master. There's still a 28% tax credit, including cost of installation. Makes this upgrade a no-brainer.

You are correct in that VELUX does not include flashing kits with the deck mounted skylights. As these kits are specific to your roofing material type and roof pitch: (shingle, tile/thick shake or standing seam metal) It would not be feasible to include all of those choices and increase the cost of the skylight to the consumer as well as the waste.

So far the skylights are exactly what I expected them...
So far the skylights are exactly what I expected them to be. They look good and don’t leak like the old ones I replaced.
