Hi Syed, you may be experiencing grain raise, which can occur when applying a water-based finish directly to bare wood. Grain raise may be prevented by first applying a sanding sealer, such as our Zinsser SealCoat Universal Sanding Sealer. If grain raise occurs after the first coat or two of polyurethane, sand the surface smooth using 220-320 grit sandpaper, then apply the next coat of polyurethane. Once the wood is sealed and sanded smooth, grain raise should not reoccur. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Zinsser-1-qt-SealCoat-Wood-Sealer-824H/202070456 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2
