That is odd! Keep in mind that the Rust-Oleum Varathane Water-based Polyurethane needs to dry for at least 3 days before it can be subjected to normal usage. The moisture is likely getting entrapped in the finish, resulting in the milky appearance. Hi Syed, you may be experiencing grain raise, which can occur when applying a water-based finish directly to bare wood. Grain raise may be prevented by first applying a sanding sealer, such as our Zinsser SealCoat Universal Sanding Sealer. If grain raise occurs after the first coat or two of polyurethane, sand the surface smooth using 220-320 grit sandpaper, then apply the next coat of polyurethane.
