This is a handy tool where a grinder is needed for small or quick jobs. It is great for lawnmower blades, grinding down nails, or cleaning up a weld . No extension cords to stretch out,just grab it and go!! The guard and handle make it better for the inexperienced user to safely grind objects. I have been on industrial jobs where welders would operate a 15 amp grinder for hours at a time. This grinder is not made for that , but is a great tool to have around the house for occasional use.

While WEN may first sound like foreignd it is American brand known for their great engineering. For example this tool has 3 mount holes for supporting handle, one on top and 2 on sides. My 2 other corded grinders don't have top mounting hole to keep hand far away from cutting/grinding plane. Angle grinders have much longer duty cycle than electric drills or impact tools so brushless motor design makes this tool more reliable and eliminates any brush related maintenance. I like air cooling intake ports at the end of tool handle close to battery terminals. The have screens for debris. Alos cooling air flow is first routed through motor controller circuitry inside the handle and then to motor itself. This ensures that both components will last. Grinder accepts 4-1/2" disks. 1 grinding disk is included. Tool has standard 5/8" arbor which is compatible with majority 4-1/2" disc manufacturers. One of my corded grinders has proprietary x-lock mounting system and this makes disks automatically more expensive and harder to find. You also get battery and charger and can use this tool out of the box. Tool and battery enclosures are made from quality materials with had rubber like finish. Disk guard has spring latch, so you don't need any tools to quickly re-adjust its position. On/Off switch also has etched arrow hinting you to move it to the right side first and only then push forward (child lock safety). My corded grinder from another brand has the same mechanism but no hint arrow so at first I thought that switch on another grinder was defective until I accidentally spotted a paragraph about this safety feature in manual looking ofcourse for something else. Perfect to use in my garage where I have a single electrical outlet. I just used it to grind away an excess of material from my snow blower impeller to fit it back with installed rubber plates to prevent chute clogging. Motor had decent torque and was able to keep rpms high. In spring I'm planning to sharpen my lawn mower blades with this tool as well. So far I like tool performance and features.

After many years with my corded angle grinder. It was time to cut the cord. Very pleased with my Wen 20 volt lithium battery angle grinder. No more cords allows freedom from the dreaded drop cord to reach your project. With plenty of battery power this angle grinder gets the job done. The package includes a three position handle and the 4.5 inch grinding wheel. One 20 volt lithium battery and charger. And a wheel wrench that fits inside of the handle. So no more wondering where that wheel wrench went. It's tucked smartly inside the handle. Great idea! Very lightweight grinder. And plenty of power with a 20 volt Brushless motor. The whole grinder weighs in at about 5lbs. With the battery pack installed. The power switch is a newer design. Not the paddle switch like the older corded models. I like how the battery pack has an onboard LED light gauge. So you know how much power the battery has left. Very pleased with the total package. And Wen offers a two year warranty on this product. So they got you covered. This is my first Wen product. But I like what I see here. And would definitely consider more of there products. Check them out.

I recently received the WEN - WEN 20-Volt Max Brushless Cordless 4-1/2 in. Angle Grinder with 4.0Ah Lithium-Ion Battery and Charger. I like this tool because it is battery operated. I can take it any where I need to grind. This is a well made tool that is quite quiet for a grinder. Comfortable to handle and easy to use. I like the locking switch which is easy to turn on and off. I grounded a small chisel with easy. I would recommend this to anyone needing a quality tool.

I had a cheapo corded angle grinder before and it's so limiting having that cord, so I was happy to get this cordless model from WEN. The tool is very well made. It has a 3-position handle that makes it easy to get just the right grip on the tool no matter what angle you need to attack from. The blade guard is one of the easiest I've seen to change, too. Just unsnap the latch, twist it to where you need it, and snap it back into position. The handle also holds the tool that you use to change the blades. It just slides out of the end of the handle. To change the blade you need to engage the tool into the blade retainer and press on the orange button on the end of the tool. You'll need to rotate the blade a bit before it catches and it will prevent the blade from moving while you unloosen it with the tool. The on/off button was a bit unintuitive. I had to look up how to start it in the manual, actually. You have to slide the on/off switch to the right before pushing it up to the on position. It can also lock in the on position. It's not hard to do, just not really what you'd expect. I was wondering why I couldn't just slide the switch on, and I just needed to slide it to the right first. It's kind of a lockout feature I guess as a safety measure. The tool comes with a 4.0 amp-hour lithium-ion battery and charger, and the battery keeps its power at maximum until it finally gives out. There is a battery level indicator on the battery as well so you can always check how much juice you have left. Really glad I got this. I needed to cut off a bunch of nails on the inside of our roof prior to insulating and having an untethered tool made the job much less clumsy.

Worked exactly as it should. Cut through 1/4 piece of steel like butter.

As the third WEN tool being added to my tool collection, I was expecting a solidly built and well performing tool that was pretty much ready to go right out of the box. WEN delivered again, and this 4.5” grinder is a good little tool. Requiring the same amount of ‘assembly’ as just about any other grinder: the guard has to be attached, the handle screwed on and (of course) some sort of cutting wheel or abrasion disc must be wrenched into place. All three of these tasks are easy to complete; all you’ll need is a screw driver and the included wrench to get a disc into place. Once these three items are in place, you’re ready to go. The on/off switch does have some fight in it, which most certainly will prevent an accidental power on. Considering how fast this spins (11,000rpm), avoiding an accident like that certainly is a good idea. I was able to successfully grind some rust off some tools with very little effort with the included grinding disc and even moderately sharpen up a very rounded chisel in no time at all. I do wish that a cut off wheel would have been included as that would have been a ‘nice to have’. The weight of the tool is a little heavy. It’s not overly heavy, but it does feel as if it’s just a little too much for a tool this size. Extended use could be a little wearing on the user and I feel that WEN could have shaved a few ounces here and there. Especially considering that this is a one speed machine (it’s either on full power or off) the weight and gyroscopic ability of the wheel do add up. My major complaint is the lack of good storage it comes with. The cardboard box it came in is very flimsy and I’ve managed to tear it once already. I prefer tools that come in hard plastic cases, as it keeps the dust off them and the spiders out of them. I will have to go through the effort of a finding a good method of storing this grinder, as its probably the first electric or pneumatic tool that I have that does not have a decent box, solid case or even a fabric bag to keep it in.

This angle grinder is remarkable for a tool for this price range. You can spend a lot more on an angle grinder but it won't be a whole lot better. There's really not many features to a grinder and this one has most of the ones the more expensive ones have. It has an adjustable wheel guard, a spindle lock button to prevent rotation of the wheel, a right angle handle, there's a grinding wheel included, a wheel nut and wheel nut tool, they even throw in an extra set of brushes for the electric motor. About the only thing it doesn't have is variable speed. The switch is on/off only. I have used it quite a bit since receiving it and I'm very impressed. It's light, but not too light. The wheel is well balanced so there's no extra vibration. The tool itself is well balanced and feels good in your hand. The only thing I can't know about it at this time is longevity, but otherwise it's a very nice tool. And finally, I know when you buy a new tool, you just want to get it out and try it as soon as you get it home. Me too. Also, I know the last thing you want to do is consider safety. Me too. I've been lucky. I've never really had any safety concerns other than a few minor injuries (I drove a phillips head bit on a impact driver in one side of my thumb and out the other, I've had some "shocking" experiences, and some other incidents too boring to mention). However, the older I get the more important safety issues become. When I got this angle grinder, I just wanted to fire it up and grind some stuff. I'm working on a project that required the use of the cutting disk (not included) and I really needed to get it done. Instead of jumping right into it though, I took time to review some online safety procedures associated with this grinder and ran across some videos of what not to do with a hand held grinder and why you shouldn't do them. Ew...they showed some gruesome images (one guys face was basically split in half, forehead to chin). They caused me to really pay attention while I was re-learning how to properly use a grinder. I know it sound preachy, but please be careful when using power tools. The damage is done, often in less than a second, before you've realized anything went wrong. Wow...Sorry for the lecture.

Sep 2024: Safety is a MUST. Use eye, ear, hand protection when using. It worked well for my 20 minute task of cutting small metal pins. Arrived with a single metal grinding wheel (4.5"x about 1/8"). which I immediately swapped out with a high quality skinnier blade. Comes with wheel-swapping wrench and two spare graphite electric motor contacts. Cons: Online only. The packaging box is tight so I instead store it in a slightly bigger tote bag.

I return the Wen angle grinder, it did not have the power I need for the job.

a great grinder at a great price

The grinder was light-weight and perfect for the relatively small job of grinding old concrete paint off my front step/patio. Compared to the price of other angle grinders, what a great deal.

This grinder did the trick! Had plenty of power to cut through stucco for a dog door.

Haven't had it long, but so far so good !

My husband loves this grinder. He says it's a good one to do his projects. It seems to be durable and sturdy. We bought a diamond blade to go with it. Hopefully it will last a long time.

Really solid grinder. At 1/2 the price of the next model up, it didn't lack anything. Only bummer was that I had to order it and not in stock at the store.

Does the job with ease!

Really can’t beat the price. For the light duty I need, this grinder will do fine. The first issue was that I could not depress the spindle stop. I disassembled that component and there was no obstruction so I tapped it kinda hard with a plastic hammer. That was enough to get it to move freely. The second issue is there is an out of balance vibration that isn’t comfortable. Possibly the included wheel is the problem
