Customer Reviews for Wagner FLEXiO 5000 Stationary HVLP Paint and Stain Sprayer

This guy lays down some serious volume of paint, and is great for big projects. I painted ~400 feet of a 6-foot fence in 9 hours! One coat and it looks great. It takes some getting used to, especially in keeping it clog-free, but totally replaces rollers. I next used it to paint the inside of the bathroom cabinets, and here's where it got tricky. In this case, you need to seriously mask everything in the room, since there is all kinds of collateral splattering, even on the tightest sprayer setting. While this wasn't a big deal, I do have to laugh about the "5-minute cleanup" claim on the box. It's more like 20-30 minutes! There are lots of little parts that need attention. That's no surprise, given the volume of paint that the unit pushes, but it is sort of fantasy land to suggest that this is painless cleanup and maintenance. Overall, I think it is a great investment, again, especially for big projects. To be sure, though, it's messy and a bit sketchy for little or precision projects!

This was my first time trying a sprayer. I painted stained walnut kitchen cabinets with the detail nozzle. Sanded everything first. BM primer and Advance satin paint. Thinned it at about 5% with water. It worked fantastic. Did a soft sand in between the primer and top coat. Short learning curve on the gun but not too bad. Didn't have one run in the last two coats and it looks like a pro job!

The detail nozzle worked better than I expected, very little overspray. Was able to spray latex cabinet paint without thinning. The reason for the 4star rating is that I have not used the i-spray nozzle yet. Clean up is very easy.

I love this sprayer! I used a thick latex paint with primer to spray entire walls and it worked amazing. I highly recommend this product!

Does well for small jobs - not for whole house painting.

Decent sprayer for your DIYer but if you are expecting this to be used for paid jobs maybe invest in a more professional model. With that said, I sprayed the walls of a bedroom and an Ikea dresser that I bought unfinished. Nozzle does cake up with dried paint and you have to clear the exterior of it every few minutes.

Like many of the reviewers here, I had a horrible experience with this product. It leaked paint everywhere and would splatter regardless of setting. I would get so bad I needed to stop and scrap the paint off the nozzle every 5 minutes. It also only covered an area of about a 3 inch brush so was very time consuming. After many hours I decided to take a closer look at the unit and realized it was not assembled correctly which was causing much of the problems. I have read other reviews of similar issues. Clearly quality isnt big here. After assembling correctly I still had major issues and realized it was likely since paint had gone everywhere including in the air hose, it likely went that way since it was not assembled correctly to start. Now I have a defective unit with too much paint everywhere to fix that I just spend $200 to do a horrible paint job of half a room and need to switch to roller and brush to finish the rest. Definitely do not recommend this product. Large waste of time, money and paint.

My first HVLP unit so I have no comparisons to others. This got the job done nicely. Very easy to use and to clean. The storage box is a nice feature. As expected at this price point everything is plastic. For occasional use I recommend.

Did a clear stain on about 150 feet of 6 foot fence in just a few hours. Worked flawlessly. Highly recommend this. So easy to clean up as well.

It took a little trial and error the first time I used it to get all of the settings correct for the media I was using. Once I got that set, it worked perfectly. I wish I would have purchased this a long time ago.

I have only used it for about 10% of the work that I intended to use it for. So far, the performance greatly outweighs my expectations. I love the portability of the sprayer in one box. Less mess to deal with. The ability to control what area to paint is a big plus. I will post a much dense report when I finish my project but in the meantime, I would strongly recommend this Wagner Flexio 5000 over the competition.

I have a 1000 watt generator so I used it in the yard to stain shed, swing and arbor at my fire pit. It did a great job on everything and so easy to clean. I would definitely recommend to anyone.

With the exception of having to thin the water base deck stain and taking time to get things dialed in, this sprayer works well. With more use I may find getting it set will improve. Otherwise I'm happy with it.

This sprayer started up fine and was spraying nicely, but quit a half hour into sparying. Would not restart. We let it set 2 hours got it to restart and again it quit a half hour into spraying where it could not be restarted. The overspray and masking out for overspray was way more than expected when it was running...

Very disappointed. Thought the sprayer is gonna make my life easier but it turn out to be a mistake. Be ready to paint for 5 minutes that would only cover 1/16 section of your project, and the next 30 minutes trying to figure out why the paint is clogging or why it is spitting paint everywhere since the turbine gets so hot. User manual did not come with the product so good luck trying to figure out everything when problems occurred. Said recommended annual usage is 50gal/ year but it looks like it’s dying on me just after not even 2. 10/10 would NOT recommend unless you are looking to make everything more difficult

I just finished painting the walls and ceiling of a garage addition we put on our house using the Flexio 5000. I had some trouble initially with the trigger on the paint sprayer that caused me a few frustrating hours until I figured out what was going on. After that, it worked great and I painted 1,700 square feet using 8 ½ gallons of latex paint with no problems at all. The hose was long enough (barely) that I could reach the 13’ ceiling and that was a real convenience. I was very pleased with the result. It took longer to cover that square footage than advertised, even with the material flow and air pressure on their maximum settings, but was definitely easier and faster than using a roller and brushes. The paint was very easy to control with virtually no overspray and the finished result looked great. I realized there was a learning curve and I definitely got better with experience, both with using the sprayer and cleaning the unit. The problem I had with the trigger when I first started is that there is a set screw on the yellow part of the trigger assembly that was preventing the maximum flow of material with the material flow control on its maximum setting, causing the paint flow to be frustratingly slow. I couldn't find any reference to it in the owner's manual. Once I figured out what was happening and turned that screw all the way in, the sprayer worked fine and I was able to get the job done efficiently and well. Overall, the unit performed very well and I am happy.

Haven’t used a paint sprayer for years and found this unit to be easy to operate, clean and handle. The technology of today’s sprayers is significant over what it was a decade or two ago. I used this to paint a fence I was building. Everything worked like a marketing commercial; very pleased with the unit and results. Worth your consideration

Frustrated because the gun clogs up a lot. It isn't as easy to clean as described.
