Thank you for reaching out. For the best results when applying Rust-Oleum Watco Lacquer Spray we recommend spraying light coats 8 to 12 inches from the surface to avoid runs and sags. This ensures for a coverage of 40 square feet per can.

Didn’t dry with a nice smooth finish on my pine board game I made. Sprayed several times, did a light sanding and sprayed twice more and I’m just not happy with a smooth gloss finish.

Terrible. Unless you can control the weather and humidity you can expect splitting ( it looks like a crack on the surface) or orange peeling. I used it on a hot but somewhat dry day, and it looked fine aside from the orange peel effect which can be sanded later. BUt the next day was humid so the surface split when I added another layer. Ridiculous. I used a different brand and had no such problems.

Let's talk about this! Rust-Oleum Watco Wood Lacquer Spray needs to be applied when the air and surface temperatures are between 55-90°F (13-32°C) and the relative humidity is below 85%. Several light coats also result with a better finish than one heavy coat, and allow for proper drying.

I had to return 2 cans of this lacquer, they spewed out huge drops of lacquer all over my project, and I had to re-sand and refinish half of it. When I returned them, I tested 2 more at the store and same thing. And, there were several on the shelf that didn't even have spray nozzles on them! Beware!

Thank you for sharing your experinece! For the proper consistency, it is essential that Rust-Oleum Watco Lacquer Wood Finish Spray is shaken vigorously for 2 minutes before each use. We also recommend spraying on vertical surfaces when possible.

4 stars due to the excessive overspray

A little pricy for the quality so far. I had to purchase another can to create a high gloss finish.

The spray pattern is the worst of all the lacquer’s I’ve us, use min wax or deft much better spray tips.

That is not what we like to hear! Our Watco Crystal Clear Lacquer sprays use a standard output, cone pattern spray nozzle. Be sure to shake the can thoroughly prior to use, and fully depress the nozzle to ensure an even spray pattern. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2 Rustoleum

That's not what we expect to hear! If applying Rust-Oleum Watco Lacquer Wood Finish Spray to bare wood, additional lighter coats may be needed to help build the finish.

    The worst
I used Minwax for two layers, worked great, but they only had 2 in stock. For the third layer I used this and it wrinkled in spots and was uneven in all other spots. Ruined it. Now I have to sand and re-do. Just horrible.

We appreciate you reaching out and sharing your experinece, Sean. When applying Rust-Oleum Watco Lacquer Wood Finish Spray over a previous finish, we recommend applying in a test area first to ensure compatibility. The previous finish must also be completly dry and in good, sound condition.

This lacquer did exactly what I wanted. It turned the cherry a deep crimson, and a single can lasted a long time. I'll be using it again!

Stop. Don't use this on your custom wood
This lacquer should have been a clear shine. It was milky and left a cloudy over my wood project. I spent 3 weeks working on this project and I am not sure if I can save it!!!!!! Please don't use this if it is important to be clear. Otherwise just buy white paint!!! Extremely disappointing product! Don't use this!

Thank you for sharing your experinece, Jane. To ensure a clear finish, Rust-Oleum Watco Lacquer Wood Finish Spray must be applied to a clean, dry surface. Make sure to apply only when the relative humidity is below 85% as well. Lighter coats should also be applied to build the finishes, verses applying one heavy coat.

It did not spray very well. I did not care for the finish that much. It was way overpriced. Not nearly as good as Deft. I wish Home Depot would bring Deft back.
