[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I brought this Unit 2 years ago and love it the first time I turned it on. It was brought in the summer time. Due to its multi features, I was able to use the AC function and the dehumidifier in my sun room throughout the summer. The Heating function was used in the winter when the temperature was optimal. The compressor went out this year, after speaking with customer service, they agree to send me a replacement. The were very understanding with my issue. I would highly recommend this product to a friend.

Wanted to find a double hose unit because I live in an area where fires are common, and double hoses are supposed to be better for keeping smoke out of the house. We haven't used it in smoky conditions yet, but we have used it during a week of 100+ degree weather consecutively and it worked great. It has made life so much better and does a good job cooling the bottom floor of our house. Took some time to set up for the first time but I think it will be easier now that we've done it once.

We use this unit to cool the house in the summer and heat the house when temperatures are 45° or so. I’m surprised how well it heats our family room and kitchen area. We like the product so much we bought a second a few months later. I modified the window unit because our windows are so large. Notice I added a stand so that the water can drain into a bucket. My only complaint is that is a bit challenging to install the flexible vent pipes.

Cools my small area. I live in a 1 bedroom and it keeps my place brrr chilly. I love it. Cools my place down quick!! I set the timer to go off an hour or so before I get home and my house feels amazing when I get home. I definitely recommend.

At first I was little skeptical when I first got it going, because it didn’t right away cool off my room, but I do have vaulted ceilings and it gets pretty hot up here in the San Diego Mountain Cleveland National Forest area, but after a couple hours, it cools down my room pretty well, and not that dry air cold, that sucks the moisturity of your body, but a nice comfortable coolness that I love, which my wife noticed as well.

This brand works as advertised… I live in Arizona and purchased a unit and put it in the living room of a mobile home. It gets very hot here but this unit has the ability to cool a 500 square-foot area to the mid 70s and 80 when we hit 115 or above…(it’s a dry heat) tried to purchase a second unit but everyone was sold out this summer. Will definitely purchase two more units and save between 7000 and $10,000 instead of a heat pump. This product is the real deal. Highly recommended For extreme heat areas

I purchased this unit less than 8 months ago and it suddenly stopped working, compressor doesn't turn on and it doesn't cool the air. It is still under warranty and Whynter customer service has been a pain, they just go around in a loop with copied and pasted answers without actually helping. I wish I could take this back to the store as I am very unhappy. I do not recommend this product unless you have $600 to throw away.

I was tired of the recent heat waves in coastal Southern California, so I decided to go with this unit. It cooled my 600-square-foot apartment down to 73°F in about four hours with an outside temperature of 88°F. It has kept the apartment at a constant 73°F since installation and is quiet and efficient. We’ll see about the products longevity, but so far I am very pleased with this purchase.

As the owner of three portable AC's and the user of two of them, this is the best of the three. Am planning on another one to replace a smaller bedroom AC that does not cool as well

With my San Francisco Bay Area mobile home sometimes being very hot due to the metal, during cold months I run and daily twice empty my two 60 pint dehumidifiers, and run the Whytner for the family, living room, kitchen, and dining rooms when hot. I appreciate the full evaporation feature, since my other smaller brand master bedroom AC does not have this feature and I have to empty the 2 1/2 gallon catch bucket twice daily. I am considering a second 14,000 btu Whytner AC purchase with exhaust hose insulation, with the smaller AC to be moved to another bedroom. As the owner of three portable air conditioner's, this is the only brand I will be purchasing in the future thanks to its features and efficiency.

Great solution for warming and cooling our lanai! We have the ezbreeze (plastic) window system over the screens, but in SC it's still too cold in winter and too hot in summer (ezbreeze opened) to be in the room comfortably (as well as for our cat!). We haven't been through summer with it yet, but hoping it will cool at least the same 20 degrees as it's heated the room this winter. The room went from 40 to 60 in the recent cold mornings here! We did buy the 14,000 btu even though the Lanai is only 240 sq ft, due to the lack of insulation in the aluminum and screened Lanai. One "surprise"...we have had to empty the condensation drain every few days. We expected that in summer, but not in winter. I guess it's more humid in the room than we thought! Overall, very happy with the purchase!

Very simply put this is the worst designed product I have purchased in some time. The vent hoses CANNOT be removed without breaking the housing. The Whynter company refuses to acknowledge their poor design (this is a systemic problem reported often said a customer service rep) but they refuse to warranty the broken housing that removing the hose connections causes. In short try another product or manufacturer - one that stands behind it's products because Whynter does NOT!

Arrived in good condition, effectively packaged. Well built. The remote is easy to use. Being used in a living room, that has a very high ceiling. I live in the US southeast, where it gets into high/low 90's, so it does get a test. Winter will be here soon, so I can't review the heat portion yet. I have 2 other portable units, that are not Whynter (1 upstairs) and for me this was a tricky install. A youtube video helped. I notice that the humidity level is less, in a bedroom off the living room. Overall I like this unit. My pics are darker than I had hoped for. Would I buy this Whynter again? Well I'm thinking of selling one of the other units from a recent purchase and replacing it with a Whynter.

The main problem with this air conditioner is no matter where you adjust the "flow director," most of the cooled air will go up, and not out. Use this deflector and you can direct the majority of the airflow. After adjusting the slide adjustment to the unit's deflector width, use clear packing tape to secure the sides and you're ready to go! When installed, you'll only be able to open the air conditioner unit's "air deflector' to the second vent opening, but that's OK because most of the air usually went directly up anyway!

Product works great and Whytner sales team is wonderful

I picked up this portable A/C yesterday and this morning I noticed that the LED screen is defective. I called Home Depot CS and they directed me to Whynter. I called Whynter and they said that they can send the part (LED screen) but I have to install it myself. This unit is very heavy and I don't want to deal with this kind of hassle and waste of time! I'm returning this item and will not ever buy from Home Depot nor from Whynter! Really bad customer service.

Best portable a/c unit for the money, the dual exhaust makes this thing cool like no other, can’t say enough about it,I live in Florida in a 40 foot rv and it keeps the temp at 70-72 on a really hot day!!

I installed this unit in a 12 x 24 shed, for my wife who uses it for a studio. It has foam insulation in the walls and ceiling. Keeps it pretty close to 78 degrees even on days that reached 94. I live in northern Florida and the sun is out all day.

Using it in an enclosed trailer with only the roof insulated. Mounted houses out bottom rather than side. Works good so far. Keeps trailer cold at night and around 68-70 during day with sun beating down on black trailer.

Easy-to-follow directions for ease of assembly. Ordered it June 17, arrived the 21st, in time for the 4th of July at our summer place. Well packaged--double heavy cardboard box. I wasn't sure about it when it was delivered, looking at the box, but ac was not damaged. I found it's best to start it before the room gets too warm. Kept it pleasant in a small living room even with 21 people in it one summer day. Fan noise is about the same whether on high, medium, low, or set temp has cycled off; noise not unlike a regular fan on high. Have not tried it as a heater, so hesitated to rate it 5 stars. If heater works to warm as well as the ac works to keep it cool, then I'd rate it 5 stars. I'm very pleased with it.

I purchased this model air conditioner for several reasons: its high 11.2 EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio), it has a two hose system for input and exhaust air which is supposed to be more efficient for cooling versus a single hose system, I live in an older home with aluminum frame windows that are too small and flimsy to support a window mount air conditioner, cutting a large opening through a wall for an air conditioner was not an option, for the 14K BTU cooling capacity and for the supported operating modes that I plan to utilize during different seasons. I operate this air conditioner maybe 1 or 2 hours at a time either late in the day or very early in the morning to reduce heat and humidity levels on hot and humid days to keep a living and working space comfortable. I have not had to drain this air conditioner when operating the unit in air conditioner mode and no water has accumulated in a clear drain hose that I attached. This air conditioner uses condensation in air conditioner mode to improve cooling efficiency and exhausts condensation as a vapor through an exhaust hose. I have not tried using the other operating modes available on this air conditioner, fan only, dehumidifier and heat. I also do not use or have much use for the remote control that came with the air conditioner because the air conditioner is simple enough to operate from its front panel and I only operate the air conditioner when I am in the room the air conditioner is in. The timer mode on this air conditioner is convenient to operate the air conditioner for a set amount of time in 1 hour increments at the end of a day when retiring. This air conditioner is loud, but not louder then large window mount air conditioners of equivalent cooling capacity. It is not possible to listen to a radio or hear a TV played at low volume levels when this air conditioner is operating in the same room. This air conditioner is very efficient with removing humidity from an indoor space quickly and making a living space comfortable. Have noticed since using this air conditioner that there is no longer any condensation on a toilet in the next room during the summer which used to accumulate so much during the summer that a puddle would form on the floor. This air conditioner is close to the size and weight of a small refrigerator and is OK aesthetically. I installed a dedicated circuit receptacle to operate this air conditioner inches away from a main breaker box for a room that I use as an office and bedroom. Built a 24" square by 3" high solid wood platform using two 3/4" thick plywood project panels sandwiched around cut up lengths of 2x6 all secured together with many 2" long deck screws instead of resting this air conditioner directly on a carpeted floor to increase the drain height to make it easier to drain this air conditioner, and to provide a stabile platform while protecting carpeting from damage from the casters on the bottom of this 81 pound air conditioner. A drain kit was not include with the air conditioner and only a rubber drain plug was included which I found very difficult to remove. Purchased and installed the following items from Home Depot to make a drain kit for this air conditioner. 1/2 in. x 10 ft. Clear PVC Tubing (1/2" ID x 5/8" OD) Model # 900-01203C00101 Internet # 202309819 1/2 in. PVC Sch. 40 FPT x FPT Ball Valve Model # VBVP40B3B Internet # 202369936 1/2 in. x 1/2 in. Plastic Barb x Male Adapter Quantity 2 for ball valve Model # 904-402099 Internet # 100187815 #006 SS CLAMP 3/8"X7/8" DIA Quantity 2 for ball valve 078575170657 1/2" ID clear tubing fits very securely on the smooth drain fitting that is molded as part of a drain tank on this air conditioner. It was not possible to install a hose clamp on the drain fitting since there was just enough clearance for a 5/8" OD hose to fit. Was able to use the window kit by cutting off a length of the plastic bends at each end to fit a flat plastic section of the window kit inside of an aluminum window frame channel. Used thick foam weather-stripping to seal between the top and bottom of the window kit. Also mounted the window kit in an inside window frame with an outside screen in an outer window frame to keep weather, insects, etc. from being able to enter the large air conditioner hoses. Noticed that the hose kit does not completely seal and that there are large enough cracks at the connection points to allow insects to enter. It is not possible to seal the hose kit because that would likely prevent the hose kit from being able to be removed in the future without damage.

Once in a while, you make a good purchase, this is mine! I am very satisfied with this non window type of A/C and heater too. It looks nice in the environment and works as well as it looks. Though we haven't used the heater function yet, because it is in the mid 80's here, I will have to assume it will perform equally good. This was a 2 beer project, 1 to get started and 1 to enjoy with the cool air flowing. The space we intended to cool is a bit more than the unit was specified for, but since our home is super insulated, it performed very well. We may even buy another Whynter unit.

Quiet and cools my main living area really well. Saved so much money by getting this instead of replacing whole house AC. I think the secret is in the two tubes to the window so one can exhaust. I’m very happy with this purchase.

Setup was relatively easy. The unit is much quieter than I expected. It delivers a cool blast of air, but if you are expecting a hot day, it works much better when you start it up early rather than try to cool down a hot room. I had a question for customer service and they answered right away. Always a good sign.

The ac Is ice cold!!! I haven’t used the heat but looking forward to it and that time of year!!

I already owned a smaller Whynter ac/heat unit for the main floor in our house. It itself has been fantastic for several year, and with the price of oil, and the efficiency of a heat pump, has saved us a considerable amount of money for the last 2 winters as suplimental heat. This larger unit (arc-14sh) did not dissapoint. It now keeps my basement (with no exterior access) at a comfortable 68 degrees, and dehumidified. I couldnt ask for a better unit. The heat definitely helps in the winter also
