It`s wobbly going up and down on the guide rails. The tolerance is not as tight as I would like. Yet, for a DYIer, this might be just find and it`s the only reason I would recommend this product, otherwise if you`re more concerned with good tolerance on the guides then don`t buy this.

This unit has too much give, it was impossible to drill a perpendicular hole. Couldn’t initiate my project, and returned it to HD right away.

The tool worked well for my use. I had to make 23 straight holes through a 3/4" x 4" x 12" of varing diameters and bore out another similiar piece of wood half way with same dimmensions. After you start making so many holes you develope a method that is fast and efficient so this tool works well.

I had to use a washer to shim one side of the plunger rods to plumb the guide because it listed to one side and was not perpendicular. I purchased this tool to drill at 90 degrees. I am disappointed that the guide had to be jury rigged. Overall rating was fair.

It's not a drill press but it worked well for my project, at a fraction of the cost. I'm very happy with it and Home Depot's service.

Five stars for the value and quality. This is an exceptional improvement over the drill guides of the past, where a separate chuck was required. Overall, this guide is made of heavy, all metal materials, except for the blue parts, handle, and stops that clamp the guide. The handle is light plastic, but since it is a standard mount screw attachment, you can add a handle as I plan to do (turn a nice wooden one, that is...). The blue parts are high density material that will no doubt last. The Achilles Heel, perhaps, are the black stops (indented spacers with nut inserts). They are hard to align on any particular angle, and can be easily misaligned; they also serve a critical purpose; so, I hope they last. But all screw components are metal-to-metal, so well constructed. Since I will rarely be changing angles from 90, this won't be much of an issue. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised!
