A sensitive, technologically sophisticated, but simple-to-operate water detector. We have a below-grade entryway and outdoor drain that -- despite French drains, a sump pump, and grading -- still somehow manages to allow some occasional water into our finished basement. A simple water detector saved us once, but when a freak storm hit when we were out of town, we came home to almost 200 sq. ft. of wet carpet. With any luck, this detector is going to help us avoid that situation permanently. Not only is it very sensitive -- a wet finger is enough to set it beeping -- but it is loud enough to be heard outside the house and, best of all, it connects with wifi and sends alerts to as many e-mail addresses as you designate. I typically hate setting up wireless devices, but this was very straightforward with easy-to-follow instructions. The only negative was that the battery (the less common CR123 lithium type) either arrived drained or got drained in the setup process, because almost the moment I got the unit online, I got a message saying the battery was low. Fortunately, I had several batteries in storage, switched one out, and we were good to go. I can't speak for longevity yet, but if this saves us even one round of flooding in our basement, it will have paid for itself 10 times over. Highly recommended.

Great stand alone leak detector! I was looking into buying a leak detector that would hook up to my smart home system, but with this it doesn't rely on any other hubs or devices to work properly. It has it's own battery and emails you and beeps when it gets wet! I set it up easily in 5 minutes and tested it with a little water and it worked perfectly! I've attached an image of the email it sent me when i put water on it. There was about 30 seconds between me putting water on it and me recieve the email which I think is sufficently fast!

Zircon Leak Alert Wi-Fi Electronic Water Detector This is a great water detector. I recently added a small water heater under the kitchen sink and while I placed a catch pan under it I had no way of knowing if there was water in the pan. This leak detector is perfect for this application. The detector comes complete with a battery (CR123a) and instruction manual. The instruction manual is well written and easy to understand. Using either IOS, Android or Windows you can configure the device. Configuring the device was a bit tricky, it took me multiple tries to get it right. Once you press the button to configure the device you have three minutes before the device turns off. I found it challenging to get the information entered in via my phone within the three minutes. Once configured the device is easy. Simply place it face down on the surface you want to monitor. Since I was placing it face down in a metal pan I did place a piece of tape across the surface contacts. You can test the device by simply wetting your finger and holding it on the contacts. The alarm is quite loud, the device flashes and an email is sent notifying you of a leak, this worked very well. If the water gets deep the device is designed to float. Another nice feature is the low battery alarm, not only will it send an email but it will also beep, the great part is the beep only works between 9am and 5pm so it will not wake you up in the middle of the night (unlike my smoke detectors). Overall I think this is a great device and would recommend it. Pros: Quality built Great Design Well Thought Out Great Instructions Cons: Configuring was tricky

Love the idea I get an email

Very happy and it paid for itself! It detected a small leak from our water heater - fortunately the water main was shut off or there would be more - and emailed us! I would not have noticed the leak so glad it alerted us before it got worse and gives us time to find a water heater that lasts longer than the usual 6 years. Easy set up although wish it could send alerts to my iPhone. But, happy it could send an email.

This leak detector came earlier than promised. Though the set-up was a bit confusing, when tested, the detector worked as promised. It also sends a log every seven days to the emails that are set up. Good value and provides peace of mind!

It gave me aflame alarm while I was traveling and I had the water shut off to the house. I had to pay someone to check the house. Waste of money

So much better than the Moen, which I returned. This Zircon pops up as a wireless access point you connect to, no userid or password, then you connect to its built-in website via any browser at 192.168.4.1 & fill out the simple text boxes. No apps, programs, or accounts required. Then its wireless access point goes offline so no one can hack it & the unit then sits waiting for water leaks, which you can of course test by placing a damp cloth or finger across its contacts. Doing so earns you an email from the device, which you can name whatever you want. Mine is named 'CoolingPond' so I know when the cooling pond is leaking so we can avoid a nuclear meltdown and subsequent mass evacuation. Thanks, Zircon!

I have seen so many posts about this unit and wanted to give my thoughts as I have about 8 of them and love the units. The latest firmware gives the ability to get a notification every 7 days or every 30 days with the stats on the unit, location, battery level, date, time, etc. Also you can get a text from the unit if you set the email to text up right based on your carrier. Verizon is XXXXXXXXX@vtext.com where X's are your cell number. Other carriers are a different format. These work great

It was just what we needed. It was very easy to hook to the internet. We haven’t had a water issue yet to see how the alarm part works shot of testing

Works great, setup easy, tested good the first one I bought so bought 4 more for everywhere there's water to be used in the house.

It does exactly what the product says it will do. Have had no hiccups everything works well. The one downfall was that it came with a dead battery due to what I believe was it sitting on the shelf for a long time. Home Depot did replace the battery with no question asked though.

It won't connect to the internet. Piece of junk but it does float.

The sensor part works fine. However; it has a short network range as far as I can tell. However; as only a moisture sensor, I suspect I could give it a four star rating.
