I am so sorry to learn about this issue! It is common for new rugs to have some sort of smell, but it doesn't always happen with every rug. The smell is typically from the materials and dyes used during the manufacturing process, and these smells sometimes stick to the rugs. The off-gassing shouldn't take too long, most of the time the smell will go away after a day or two of being left in a well-ventilated area (or outside). We recommend taking the rug out of the package and leaving it outside for a day or two. If the smell doesn't go away, please reach back out to us and we will be able to help you out!
