Paying for Your Order
What forms of payment do you accept online?
For online purchases we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover Cards. We also accept The Home Depot Consumer Credit Card, as well as The Home Depot Commercial Credit Accounts (both PROX and CRC).
Is it safe to use my credit card?
Keeping your information secure is a top priority for us. When you place orders through our site, you will transmit your order information, including your credit card number, to our secure server. Our secure server uses Secure Sockets Layer software (SSL) which allows us to receive information that your Web browser encrypts and transmits to us. SSL encryption technology is designed to prevent the unauthorized viewing and downloading of your order information.
What is a credit card ID number (CCID) and why is it required to place an order?
A CCID is a multi-digit numeric code located on your credit card for identification purposes. We require this information when you place an order to help ensure the security of your transaction and credit card information.
Do you charge sales tax on online purchases?
Yes. The Home Depot is required by law to charge all applicable sales taxes for online orders. Please note that the order totals during your checkout reflect estimated sales tax. The actual charge to your credit card will include the applicable state and local sales taxes and will be calculated when the order is shipped.
I am a non-taxable customer. Will there be tax on my bill?
At present we cannot process tax-exempt orders online.
At what point will my credit card be billed?
In most cases, your credit card will be charged when your order has been shipped. For major appliance purchases, your credit card is billed upon completion of the order in order to secure the selected delivery date.
Can I pay with a The Home Depot Gift Card or gift certificate?
Yes. Your Home Depot Gift Card can be used for online purchases at homedepot.com.
I have a 10% off coupon. May I use it towards my online purchase?
Discount coupons may only be used for purchases made in a The Home Depot store. They may not be used for online purchases.
Will you match other store prices?
If you find a current lower price on an identical, in-stock item from any retailer, we will match the price. Simply print the product/item page (including applicable taxes and shipping) and take it to your local The Home Depot store for verification. If we find the same lower price elsewhere, we will be glad to match the price. This guarantee excludes closeouts, liquidations, special order, clearance and open-box merchandise, John Deere and Cub Cadet products, labor and installation, sales tax, rebate and free offers, typographical errors and online purchases. Local store prices may vary from those displayed on homedepot.com.
