Neaten your tools within tool chests and keep your tools and treasures hidden from prying eyes with sturdy garage cabinets. What college dorm essentials should I get?

We've got your dorm essentials. Utilize our moving boxes or storage containers to transport your belongings, and be ready with cleaning wipes and other cleaning products. Bring a tub of spackling to fill old nail holes and Command adhesive hooks to hang string lights and wall art. Make the room your own with wall decals and area rugs. Extension cords and power strips let you place lamps, countertop microwaves, and mini fridges where you need them. If you didn't get a new backpack yet, we've got those, too. Be prepared to head to college with helpful products from your local Home Depot.

What home repairs should I make before summer storms hit?

Be confident your home is set for summertime temperatures by repairing faulty parts of your hardscaping. Check cinder blocks and bricks for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. If moisture gets inside the cracks, you could be dealing with damage. On the exterior of your home, examine shingles or metal roofing for damage or rust that might let water in. Keep gutters fully functional to keep rain overflow from entering your home when storms arrive. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be changed out if they're in poor condition.

Do you carry large moving boxes?

Pick up an assortment of moving boxes to make moving and storage easier. We've got the sizes you need, including specialty ones like TV and wardrobe boxes. Cushion any and all items with bubble cushion and moving blankets to ensure your belongings make it safely. Look into our moving truck rentals, too, and take care of your DIY move needs in one place.

Should I get a portable generator or an inverter generator?

Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for any circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with severe thunderstorms or tornados, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements take it out. When browsing generators for sale, keep in mind that inverter generators are more expensive than portable generators, but they're also quieter and cleaner. For safety purposes, always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors.

Does The Home Depot sell doorbell cameras?

Enjoy peace of mind, privacy, and safety with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. Stop peeking through an adjacent window when you can view human or animal visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, a useful interaction for delivery people or to scare off potential porch pirates. Most cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you flexible accessibility. Save video clips for future reference as needed.

New garage door order
I buy new and get damaged product with no option to resolve the damage except compensation ($amount unresolved at this time). I can’t believe the OEM wants me unsatisfied with their product.

    Great Delivery & Appliances
We bought 4 new appliances for our kitchen. The process to buy online was easy and there were texts and emails about the order and delivery. The delivery guys were very careful about bringing in the appliances. I only had the fridge installed as I was having our remodeler guy install the microwave over oven, oven, and dishwasher. I paid for haul away for old fridge, but only had them take it to my driveway as my remodeler was taking the old fridge. I also purchased a light fixture for over my island.

          Not happy
I bought a Murray riding lawn, it started off good but ended with a 40 minute wait for a mower that wasn't entirely but together a wet owners manual missing bolts. This is my last large ticket item for home depot!!!

            People that actually help!
From the time I entered the Haymarket Home Depot I was asked by numerous staff members if they could help me find something. That's a huge difference between the Haymarket Home Depot and that other Home Improvement store.

Board & battan project; all materials available; not one sales person visible- not sure what I would have done if I required assistance - oh and purchased a solidifying mitre saw.

Formal Complaint Regarding Systemic Ordering and Refund Practices
I am writing to formally express a serious concern regarding my recent experience with Home Depot during a major home renovation project. Over the course of a short period, I spent well over $10,000 on building materials—my first time ever making such a significant purchase through Home Depot. Unfortunately, this experience has left me deeply disappointed and genuinely distressed. I would like to share several systemic issues that have made this process unnecessarily difficult and, frankly, unacceptable for a customer making a large, time-sensitive investment. 1. Inflexible and Prolonged Shipping Process Several items I ordered were either extremely delayed or, to this day, still have not arrived. When I attempted to modify or cancel these orders, I was told that no changes were allowed simply because the items were “in transit.” This left me with only one option: to place entirely new orders for replacement items while waiting weeks for the delayed shipments to arrive—only to pick them up and return them later. This process was not only inefficient but financially and logistically burdensome. 2. Unreasonable Gift Card Refund Policy On one occasion, I placed a purchase exceeding $5,000, using my credit card for the vast majority of the amount and a small $400 gift card for partial payment. When I returned one item from this order, I was informed that the system classified it as a “gift card purchase,” and therefore my refund could only be issued as store credit—despite the fact that I did not purchase that item using the gift card. I respectfully questioned this, but was told that there was absolutely nothing that could be done if “the system says so.” I was ultimately forced to accept over $200 in unwanted store credit—despite having no intention of returning to Home Depot. This policy feels arbitrary, unfair, and deeply unreasonable. 3. Inconsistent Refund Processing Each time I returned materials, different employees processed refunds in entirely different ways. Sometimes items were grouped into a single refund; other times, each item was refunded separately. This inconsistency made it extremely difficult to track whether refunds were correctly issued—especially for customers like me who are managing multiple large transactions. 4. App and System Mismatch Even after returning items, the Home Depot app often continued to display them as “picked up” rather than “returned.” While store staff assured me that the internal system showed the returns properly, from a customer’s perspective this creates unnecessary anxiety. I found myself repeatedly checking my credit card account daily—wondering if and when the refund would actually appear. Home Depot is, by nature, a store where customers frequently must return unused or incompatible materials. Yet the systems currently in place make this process more difficult and stressful than any retail experience I have ever encountered. What should have been an exciting and hopeful season of improving my home instead became a deeply frustrating and discouraging experience. I genuinely never imagined that spending over $10,000 at a major retailer would feel like navigating a bureaucratic maze. I am writing not merely to complain, but to ask that Home Depot leadership recognize how customers like me—first-time, high-value renovation buyers—are being placed in situations that feel unreasonable, inflexible, and dismissive. I respectfully ask for a formal acknowledgment of these issues and an apology for the experience I have endured. Thank you for your time and consideration. I truly hope Home Depot will take steps to improve these systems for future customers.
