Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store reduced energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our local communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

What are some non-scary Halloween ideas for kids?
To make sure your little ones aren't scared, pick Halloween yard decorations that are kid-friendly. Halloween inflatables and Halloween doormats are festive solutions that aren't as spooky as many other outdoor Halloween decorations. Don't forget to update your decor as your kids get bigger and braver.
Is it good to have a generator at home?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for any circumstances life throws at you. Whether you're dealing with tornados, hurricanes, severe thunderstorms, snowstorms or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy power when the elements take it out. When browsing generators for sale, remember that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outdoors, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
Should I do siding repairs before it gets cold?
Make sure your home is ready for winter weather by replacing or repairing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could headed for major repairs down the line. Check brick and cinder blocks for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from water damage and missing pieces. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofing panels or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be replaced if they're damaged.
Are garage cabinets or sheds better for storage?
As you prepare for the holidays, make extra space with storage solutions. Shield fragile items with moving blankets. Garage cabinets keep tools, decorations, and more out of the way. Remove summer belongings from the equation with shoe racks and other storage containers. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you plenty.
