I had a wonderful experience at this location.

Went to my Home Depot early on 29 June to pickup some damaged bags of pine bark mulch that is half price. Didn’t know that the bags had been moved inside and the garden center doesn’t open until 8:00 am ( I believe the summer hours that the garden center should be open during the same as the store because people want to get a early start, especially on the weekends to get what they need, get home and do their project to beat the heat). I found the older gentleman Mr John who is the nursery subcontractor and asked him who do I need to see from the Home Depot staff to get the pine bark mulch. He told me to hold on and he would find someone, within minutes he came back with a young lady named Autumn that cheerfully told be that she could help with what I needed. I am a 72 year old retired Army veteran who has medical issues that makes it hard to load up heavy bags, so I asked if she was gonna load up the bags, she said yes sir, and Mr John volunteered to help, and he is several years older than me. We went to the mulch area and Autumn began removing damaged bags along with John who was also taping the bags and placing on one of the large platform carts. Got to 15 bags and I told them that was enough, so we proceeded to the indoor customer service desk, at which time Autumn told the young man how many bags at half price we had. I also asked him if I could use my military discount, again very cheerfully yes sir, and thank you for your service, third person with a good attitude early in the morning!! Autumn asked me to bring my truck to the front door entrance and she would load the bags up. Went and got my truck and parked just to the left of the front doors, Autumn and Mr John loaded up the bags of mulch very neatly. I thanked them so very much for helping an old broke down soldier, went to shake Autumn’s hand, she removed her gloves, before shaking my hand, which is very respectful, and told me thank you for shopping at the Home Depot, and thank you for your service. Same thing with Mr John, and they went back indoors. I respected their kindness and great customer service, so I went and parked my truck and went back inside the store to the customer service desk and asked for the manager on duty, he made a call ( apologies for not remembering their name) and within a couple of minutes the assistant manager showed up, with a look on his face wandering what problem I had, however, he again, cheerfully, yes sir , how can I help you today. I replied, not a complaint, a compliment, a smile came over his face, and I told him the story, because I really appreciated the kind and wonderful customer service that I received from the associates of Home Depot, Autumn, Mr John, and the young man at the customer service desk, I believe Stephen. I felt compelled to let the management know what a great job his associates provided me, and please let them know that I provided positive feedback and hope that the management recognizes them someway. That’s why I always shop at Home Depot. Thank you

I have spent 100s of thousands of dollars at the Opelika Home Depot over the years. The customer service by the floor staff is generally good, however the turn over is very high.. You get to know someone, and the next time you come they are gone. As long as you don't have any major issues, you will be OK, but when something does come up and store Management gets involved (Andre and Kendra), be prepared to be let down. That happened to me today and a couple bad decisions by two Mangers has turned me away for good. Because I am in the construction business, I will probably be forced to come back on occasion, but only if every other option is out of stock of what I need. I will now go out of my way to spend mine and my customers money elsewhere..

Customer Service at the front desk need more agents for taking a calls from customers.
