Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting plastic plant pots, CFLs, lead acid batteries, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to the environment and our local communities. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Do you carry tall Halloween decorations that talk?
Yes, we carry many options of Halloween decor that make sound and/or movement. Our Halloween animatronics bring scary characters to life. Scare your neighbors when your decorations move and talk. This includes current favorites like Skelly, the 12-foot skeleton, and Dean the Deathologist, a dapper bartender. For additional drama, use a fog machine or two to conceal the animatronics until they start to speak. Make yourself part of the scene by hiding in a Halloween costume and jumping out to surprise trick-or-treaters.
Why should I get a generator?
We've got the options you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are quieter and cleaner than traditional portable generators. They adjust to whatever power load is requested. This means they'll make less noise while they create less power. When shopping for generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. For safety purposes, always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors.
Why should I repair my roof before the cold sets in?
Make sure your home is ready for cold weather by repairing or replacing broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in any crevices, you could headed for major repairs down the line. On the outside of your home, examine metal roof panels or roofing shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams. Check cinder block and brickwork for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, change out vinyl siding and chimney caps if they're in poor condition.
What's the best way to store extra holiday decor?
As you prepare for the holidays, give yourself extra space in the house and stow away the rest. Garage cabinets keep decorations, tools, and more out of the way. Shoe storage and other storage bins take summer belongings out of the equation. Protect fragile items with moving blankets. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the space you've dreamed of.
How do I check my Home Depot gift card balance?
Gift cards to The Home Depot are a popular present for the holidays, housewarming parties, and birthdays. DIYers know they're fun to receive and to give. They can be purchased online at homedepot.com or in our brick-and-mortar stores. If you're a recipient, you can check your gift card balance online or visit the Oxford Valley Home Depot and ask a cashier to check the balance for you. Our gift cards can be redeemed in-store or used to shop online with no additional fees.
