It was Christmas items this trip, however, I have shopped here in the past for bathroom remodeling, hardware for doors any other products I need to keep my home safe and in working condition. Staff are very helpful in finding solutions for your projects.

I’ve been a loyal Home Depot customer and contractor for many years, but the Vernon Hills, IL store has gone downhill in both product quality and customer service. First, the return policy has become completely unreasonable. If a return is even slightly past the return window — even if the item is unused and in perfect condition — the store refuses to help. Managers claim they have no authority to make exceptions or work with customers in any way. For contractors who buy in bulk and have changing project needs, this rigid policy is incredibly frustrating. On top of that, product quality has dropped dramatically. • Doors used to be made with solid tongue-and-groove construction — now they’re cheap composite pressboard with a thin paper finish. • Bathroom vanities have the same issue: no more granite countertop options, just the same low-quality pressboard with paper veneers and poor durability. The overall selection and quality have declined to the point where it’s hard to justify shopping here anymore. It’s disappointing to see a store that once stood for reliability and professional-grade materials lose its standards in both product and policy. Home Depot needs to seriously reconsider its direction — bring back quality materials and empower managers to take care of loyal customers again.

Had trouble on my end ordering online 2 bedside tables. Went into Home Depot and the Customer Service rep, Michelle, stepped up to the plate and got my order taken care of. She was very articulate, friendly and professional! Lost my husband in January, 2025. Always felt so intimidated to go into a hardware store...not anymore! I've got Michelle to help me out if in need again!! She was great!

From garden supplies, to tools, to construction supplies I find the Vernon Hills Hime Depot to have what I need for my home. 🏠 n addition their employees have proven to be friendly and helpful.

Bought a Ryobi 15 inch 18 volt trimmer.. I asked how does this model load the plastic trimmer cord? No one knew! They told me to go to the rental area. Which is the opposite end of the store. There were 2 guys. They didn't know. I got online and called Ryobi customer service. Gave the model number. She did not know. Yet put in a request to their service tech. After 8 minutes on hold they didn't know.. Told be to look at youtube videos!! I went past the wood dept. asked them. He tried to look on his phone.. He didn't know. I am a pro member. The pro app can bring up the manual. On my phone. Super small. Finally figured it out. Got back to the other side of the store. A woman unlocked the cage. Now everything in the store is locked up. She walked it to the front. Felt very weird. You store needs training on where to find the info. Not necessarily having the knowledge

Employees offer great advice and are knowledgeable on their products. Well organized and great service.

Totally messed up the measurements for my flooring order terrible and no resolution from management and specialist who were rude Still waiting for them to come out and re measure after waiting 4 weeks for product. Never again!!! Just horrible experience

With only one disappointing experience over the last several years, Home Depot (Vernon Hills), remains my "go to" choice for my home improvement needs. While this is supposed to be a review on a specific product, my view is "products are products". It's the friendly and quality assistance I get when walking through the doors that brings me back each time.

I bought an exterior door from Home Depot some 4 years ago with decent warranty. The door started failing and the manufacturer sent a replacement to the store to be installed. This was 3 months ago and the VH store has not scheduled the installation- and winter is approaching.

Walking through the store, a handsome well dressed man in flooring asked how my day was and how he could help me. He walked me from department to department. He was charming and a delight to be with. His apron said his name was Chris. Wonderful customer service.

We needed a storm door. Tome was very helpful in explaining the different models to us and how the process works from measurement by their installer, to ordering to final installation. He set us up to receive a visit from the installer so that the correct size door is ordered. The installer called us in 2 days on a weekend to set up the appointment. That is as far as we are in the process but hope to have everything done within 2 weeks.

it has gotten to the point where I can no longer push a cart through the main aisles. You guys have decided to shove products into the middle of aisle. Its a pain--in-the-butt on a busy day to get through

Most guys like myself don’t like to ask for help! It’s in our DNA like no asking for directions! I was at the Vernon Hills, IL store last Saturday afternoon looking for Gutter Guards and had check the on-line store inventory before I left. While I was able to find the 3 ft lefts, I could not find any 4ft lengths. When checking out the Cashier Associate asked me if I could find everything I needed. When he learned I needed some additional items he paged another Associate to help. After checking stock location, he determined 4 ft lengths were in a skid on the top shelf! A 3rd Associate was paged to bring a forklift over! Great teamwork at Home Depot, IL on a Saturday afternoon!!

Employees at the vernon hills location are courtesy and extremely help and professional. Its the best Home Depot in the greater Chicagoland area. I've been to most of them.

Have to be available for a 12 hour window for delivery, they will not narrow it until the night before, however customer is required to give 48 hour notice. Not acceptable

I had a difficult project and Jim in tool rental walked me through it and made it possible. I would not have been able to do it without him and confidence I got from him.

this is the 3rd time I have ordered on line and did store pick up and was there for over 1 hour. this time they cancelled 1 part, so I went in the store to find a replacement, only to find 2ea of the item I ordered on the shelf. the staff at this Home Depot do not care!

I bought a Christmas tree my mom has been wanting, but was out of store everywhere and and Carlos asked his managers if we could get a display which we were able buy it. We arrived to pick it up and he was so friendly and helped us put the tree in the car. My mom is so happy with her Christmas tree!

I went to Home Depot to purchase a section of plywood to fit for our Thanksgiving table I needed to extend the table slightly I couldn’t find a piece, the correct size and the gentleman there said the one I had to cut off 4 inches was impossible for him, because it would pop off the rail of the saw he was very helpful and said if I went over to the rental department, they might be able to help me trim it. He was really kind gave me all the proper advice directions to get there. When I arrived at the gentleman, there couldn’t have been nicer and treated me so kindly they trimmed it rang up the invoice for me. It was all beautifully done I was in and out in 20 minutes.

You can really tell that the management style is exceptional, because of the way you are treated and taken care of while in the store. Hats off to the management.

I will tell you I always love shopping at the Vernon Hills Home Depot because no matter what I need or what I’m looking for. Everyone is always so kind and very helpful at getting me in and out of the store so I don’t waste my time looking for stuff when I could be getting projects done so thank you to the entire Home Depot team
