Q:Will I need special cookware to use the induction cooktop?

Answer This Question

A:  Hello, Eddy. Thank you for reaching out to us. Cookware material is especially important when using an induction cooktop. The cookware must contain magnetic iron or steel to work on an induction cooktop. Common materials for induction cookware include the following: Stainless Steel - Slow heat conductor. Durable, easy to clean, and resists staining. Some types of stainless steel will not work on an induction cooktop. Cast Iron - A slow heat conductor that retains heat very well. Cooks evenly once cooking temperature is reached. Porcelain-enamel on metal - Heating characteristics will vary depending on the base material. Porcelain-enamel on a compatible metal will work on an induction cooktop. We hope this information helps. - Maria

      Answer This Question

A:  Hello Iphoto, Thank you for reaching out to us! Please know that the Frigidaire Gallery 30-inch 6.2 cu. ft. Front Control Induction Range is indeed an impressive appliance! However, it appears that it’s only available in Stainless Steel rather than white. Let me share some details about this range: Features: Total Convection System: This range offers over 15 ways to cook, including modes like Air Fry, No Preheat, Slow Cook, Convection Bake, Steam Bake, Air Sous Vide, Bread Proof, and Dehydrate. Easy-to-Clean Cooktop: Unlike traditional electric and gas cooktops, induction heats only the pan and the food, keeping the surrounding area cooler for easy cleanup. No Preheat: Say goodbye to waiting for your oven to heat up—simply place your food in the cold oven and start cooking. Air Fry: Create healthier and delicious meals right in your oven. Specifications: Height: 35 3/8 inches Width: 30 inches Depth: 28 1/2 inches Sabbath Mode: Yes Depth With Door 90° Open: 47 5/16 inches Additional Information: Product Weight: 178 lbs Warranty: 1 Year (Labor and Parts) AB-1200 Information: Available at frigidaire.com/en/ab1200 Unfortunately, if you’re specifically looking for a white induction range, you might need to explore other options. However, the stainless-steel finish of this Frigidaire Gallery range is both sleek and smudge-proof, making it a stylish addition to any kitchen! - Owen

        Water boils so fast!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First time owning an induction cooktop and couldn’t be more impressed. What a time saver! Still getting used to all the controls but this is a high-tech machine, a beautiful appliance, and such an upgrade from the oven that came with my house. I haven’t figured out how to keep the cooktop completely streak-free but I’ll find the right cleaning product for the job. Made the right choice and would buy this model again.
          Awesome stove
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the multi function oven. I got the air fry rack as well. Cooks evenly and is easy to use

In just 4 months, the circuit board has failed twice
We bought this stove four months ago and already have had to have the stove top circuit board replaced twice. Once the circuit board fials, all five burners become inoperable. We have lost all confidence in the reliability of this product.

                    My Induction Stove
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using my new induction stove for the past couple of weeks and am quite pleased with its performance. Heating up water or cooking food such as scrambled eggs is now a snap. I was able to change all my pans to Stainless Steel and greatly improve the flavor of my food. The stove cooks evenly and and efficiently, turning the process of baking into a pleasure. Plus, using all electricity eliminates the indoor air pollution from burning natural gas. It's a big win for my home.
Nice range handicapped by poor design
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had a S*****g range that had the induction top fail twice in two years. We found this Frigidaire as it was #3 on Consumer Reports and tested at the top for reliability. We've had it about a week now and roasted vegetables and a pork loin and baked bread in the oven. On the range we've made eggs, an orzo-based shrimp pasta dish, boiled water for tea and pasta, and the like. The oven seems to be as good as our previous oven. No complaints. I was a bit worried about the oven controls, but they are fine. The issue comes with using the cooktop. First, the controls are touch controls on the cooktop itself. That robs the cooktop of space. As a result, the biggest burner went from 11 inches on our previous cooktop to 9 on this one. It's right up against this line between the active cooktop and the controls. If anything goes over the line, the until starts beeping and complaining loudly, so it must be bad. This arrangement makes using a 12 inch fry pan or 12 inch sauce pan very difficult. You can do it, but it's a bit like threading a needle. NOT a fan of this decision. Have the designers ever actually cooked anything? Now for the worst part. The stovetop controls are horrible to use. They made them difficult to push so you wouldn't do it accidentally since they ARE IN THE WAY WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO COOK. So, you're bringing a pan sauce to a boil then bringing it down quickly to a simmer to reduce. You keeping pushing away at the controls trying to get a response that doesn't come. You wipe your hands with a towel and wipe down the surface the get the connection just right and push firmly with nothing happening. Then all the sudden it works. In surprise, you try changing the temp again and it works fine. It's clunky, but it works until the next time when it doesn't. My mom, who has developed arthritis, could not use the cooktop. She could use the stove fine, but the cooktop would useless to her. Bad, bad design. This is a horrible design. If the repairs on our old one wouldn't have been upwards of $1000, I would have stuck with something with knobs. If they wanted it to be sleek, they could have put a serviceable touchpad on the vast expanse of blank stainless steel on the front, perhaps one on each side of the stove controls. Something that works and isn't in the way of cooking -- the activity this product is designed for. If the units were on in the store and I could have tested its responsiveness, I likely would not have made the purchase. I would have gone with one of the more expensive units with similar ratings on Consumer Reports or rolled the dice on something with slightly lower ratings. I thought the touchpad would be more like ones that are common on microwaves, but it is hard to use and finicky. Buyer beware.

Poor Build Quality, Horrible Warranty Service
in less than 30 days cooktop only turns on when in the mood and shuts off at will, does other odd things like only activate half the top. Frigidaire/Electrolux service unable to arrange a repair initial appointment (the one where they say they have to order parts and will follow up) within a week after trying 3 vendors. 1st Vendor tried to postpone appointment almost two weeks, second vendor wouldn't service induction due to lack of experience. Waiting to hear back from third vendor...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been so pleased with my new induction stove/multi function oven, including convection and air fryer modes. I can’t wait to try them all out! Stovetop heats super quickly. And it looks so sleek without knobs on the front.
