Q:Is the oven door removable on the stove. I have a GE oven similar to this one and the oven door isn’t removable. I don’t like using the self clean option. I prefer to manually clean it.

The burners heat up fast. I love that!
The Range top is hard to clean. No matter what I use it leaves a haze and streaks. I've tried paper thowels, microfiber cloths and wipes. We bought a noodle board to cover it up. Plus, there's a small metal round plate on the bottom of the burner that was not attached when the stove was installed. So that 8" burner doesn't get used since the wires are exposed.

We want to help with your new GE Appliances electric range. We recommend cleaning it with an approved cooktop cleaner like Weiman's or CeramaBryte Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner. This helps protect the cooktop and makes cleanup easier. Daily use of this cleaner will also help keep the cooktop looking new. Please Note: Use of sponges or cleaners other than those recommended can result in damage to the cooktop. Normal Daily Use Cleaning - If using the cream version of CeramaBryte Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner (WX10X300), shake the cleaning cream well and apply a few drops directly to the cooktop. If using the spray version of CeramaBryte Ceramic Cooktop Cleaner (WX10X391), spray a small amount on the cooking surface. - Use a paper towel or CeramaBryte Cleaning Pad (WX10X350) to clean the entire cooktop surface. - Use a dry cloth or paper towel to remove all cleaning residue. There is no need to rinse; however, it is important that you do not heat the cooktop until the cream has been cleaned off. We recommend contacting our warranty department for the issue with the burner at 1-800-432-2737, we're confident they can help!

Range top tough to clean fully, worst in 55 yrs
I don’t think they painted the top with the right paint or enough. This range top does not clean easily, it is really difficult. One burner broke within six months of purchase a second broke within a year or two. This is beyond a shadow of a doubt the worst range oven I have ever used, and that includes the crappy Hotpoint stove I had in a college rental my senior year 35 years ago. Very poor quality. If I were GE, I would be embarrassed to put my name on this range oven.

We are deeply apologetic about your experience with this range. As we continue to make improvements to our appliances, your feedback is extremely important to us. We will pass these comments along to our product team to review.
              Nice Range!
I like my new range. It's quick to heat up, and my pizza was done quickly the other night. It's just nice to have a new appliance. The stainless steel drip plates under the burners is,a plus. The old range had enamel ones which over the more than twenty years we had the old range, became pitted, and had some rust through, thus defeating the reason for them to be there. So, far my new range is,a winner. The only thing is that the burners seem to cut back when heating a pan of water. Thus seems to be, perhaps some sort of safety feature. I've found that nit running the burners at the High setting alleviates some of this. Other than that minor issue my new range is just fine.

                    Great looking appliance!
Stove top features are easy to use and the oven is exactly correct on temperature as proven by my oven thermometer.

Eye with the four top burners
Before you buy this electric range question the salesman about the new design of these four top burners. The burners do not stay on, they have their attitude after 10 to 15 minutes they turn off and the food is far from being done. My wife tried to figure out if there was logic to it but no luck. I contacted GE the manufacturer and they do not have an explanation they told me all kinds of incoherent explanations and the range cannot be return either! I went back to Home Depot where I bought the range and they did not have an explanation either, I asked if they were other people complaining about the same issue, they said that lot of people have been complaining about the same thing. So, think twice before you buy this range, do your research and ask questions before you commit to it, because once you buy it, you own it! They do not stand behind their product…yes, you can take them to court and win for sure but is it worth the time and money???...

Response from GE AnswersJan 12, 2024
Hi - We are truly sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction with your electric range and apologize for your frustration and inconvenience. Starting in 2018, UL (Underwriter's Laboratory) regulations require all electric coil top ranges to have temperature limiting capabilities to reduce the risk of cooktop oil and grease fires. As a result, our electric coil burners now use Sensi-Temp Technology. Each burner with this technology has a silver medallion with a button (sensor) in the center of the coil. This button must make contact with the bottom of the cookware for the Sensi-Temp Technology to sense the temperature properly. When the sensor detects a pan temperature near the limit (450 degrees F), the burner will shut off automatically until a lower, safe pan temperature is reached. At that point, the burner will resume heating. This will not affect everyday cooking as the automatic shut-off is temporary and only happens when cooking at a very high temperature. During the temporary automatic shut-off: The burner will cycle ON (bright red) and OFF (dark) to maintain safe cooking temperatures. When cycling OFF, the burner retains enough heat to continue cooking. The burner will cycle back ON automatically. This cycling will continue during the entire cooking time. This is normal operation for these style surface burners. All our best. Vikki@GEAppliances GE_Appliances

                          Easily Installed
Easily installed. We had a GE that was in our home when we bought the house. We loved that one that we wanted the same. Can't wait to use this one. It looks great.

                            Hope it lasts 36 years!
I love my new GE range. The last oven I bought was 36 years ago. Also a GE. I hope to last this oven's lifetime. The first loaves of banana bread were lovely and we enjoyed looking through the glass door.
