Q:Can this be used to repair bird peck damage on a residential flat foam roof?
by|Feb 16, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hello LaRocque - No, for any foam roof repair we would recommend the Froth-Pak™ Foam Sealant. Once the foam has been used to fill any holes and damage repaired, it needs to be coated with an elastomeric roof sealant to waterproof and protect the foam.

    Q:Is it low expansion
    by|Feb 14, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Hello Richie - The Great Stuff™ Gaps and Cracks Insulating Foam Sealant expands approximately 100%, if you spray out a 1/2" bead it would expand to approximately 1". This would be the lowest expansion foam we offer.

Q:Is it poisonous to dog if he chews some off
      by|Feb 8, 2024
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Hello Linda - Once the foam is fully cured, if an animal, such as a dog or cat, ingests cured foam it is not likely to cause any toxicity problems, but blockage could be a serious concern. If your pet does happen to eat any of the Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam Sealants, it is advised that you to take the animal to a veterinarian as soon as possible if signs of discomfort are observed. The cured foam is inert and for the most part harmless.

          1.25 inches that’s all
I purchased this product in the hopes of actually getting 3 inches of expansion, I got barely an inch and a quarter. Needless to say I’ll be returning the 3 unused cans. None of the cans were expired and the temp inside the bathroom was 70 degrees. Attached photo is from 3 hours later.

Hello JimBob15812 - Thank you for sharing your concerns with us regarding Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam Sealant products. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have encountered. I don't know the specifics for your application but please note in order to get the 3-inches, you need to use a 1-inch bead. I did look at the photo you attached to the review, but it doesn't show the original bead size. If you have additional questions about your experience with the Great Stuff™ Insulating Foam Sealant products, please call us at 866-583-2583. DOW

This stuff is super dangerous when it get stuck in you hand and it’s super hard to remove it . I wish they have a big note in the can to use gloves only when using .

20 years later looks like new
20 years later looks like new! It was used as a wall crack filler in my NYC loft. The 2nd picture shows how it deteorates when left unpainted exposed to air 20 years later.

                Buy a can, use once
PSA: when your old can of spray foam clogs, just buy a new can. Do not attempt to drill out the valve. Subscribe to my newsletter for more home improvement advice! The can does say, "Great Stuff can seal itself shut. One time use should be expected." And in my defense, I did unclog it with the drill. I just don't recommend it.

                  Works as expected.
It does what it is supposed to and fills in cracks well. Got it for a good price at Home Depot. Very good at insulating and have found it to be the best solution to fill in holes made by woodpeckers in my siding. There are 2 big downsides. First, after the first use it will dry and clog the straw. There really is no good way to clean it out or prevent this from happening, so it is basically one-time use. Second, if any get on your hands or clothes, it is impossible to get off.
