    Plastic gears
It's very handy and easy to use. Will not last long. Not for extended use. The main gear is made of plastic and gets stripped by the main drive gear. See the picture.

Poorly designed - fails after use
This product has a poor design. The chain drive gear has two bearings. The inner bearing is firmly seated in a heavy plastic housing. The outer bearing is seated in the flimsy red cover. What eventually happens is that the red cover cracks allowing the bearing to move. At this point the product is un-repairable. I recommend buying a different product until the manufacturer fixes this design flaw.

          Tree down and out
During Hurricane/Tropical storm Nicole we had a tree come down through our fence and onto the house. Thankfully no structural damage, just a steady clean up to get it all cut up. The Homelite went above and beyond to chop the tree up to get it all removed and cleaned up. Only a quarter of the oil was used which was awesome. All I would say it make sure your chain is tight enough, and make sure your cuts are clean so it doesn’t bog down or get stuck.

Easy Care and Simple to Use
We've had both Homelite chainsaws for several years and have enjoyed their simplicity. The photos taken are from today (04-2021) and they keep cutting. Fantastic price for years of reliability.

In the recent storm I had an 80 foot tall willow uproot and come down. This Homelite 16 inch took care of all but the main trunk of the tree. Was light weight. Easy to handle and powerful. This saw was short money for the 2500 dollars quoted by two tree removal companies

Chain drive gear and bearing drive shaft mounts are plastic and fail.
Chainsaw works great until the plastic case begins to wallow out around the bearings. Once that happens the drive shaft isn't supported and the metal motor gear will start to slice the teeth off the chain drive gear, which is plastic. This happened to me after light and moderate use (generally cutting green wood and limbs). I was still sharpening the original chain. I'm not new to chainsaws, I own echo and sthil, hand sharpen my chains, always run bar oil, etc. I do not overtension my chains (I could see that being an argument for this sort of damage) - but nope, I maintain my saws, even this thing. I've never seen one built so cheaply. The saw is basically junk when you buy it, but if all you're going to do is cut green limbs <4" diameter, make sure you use a sharp chain and bar oil, and never tension the chain more than to keep it from running off the bar this might last you a full chain. You'll never need to replace the bar! the chainsaw gears will wear out first.

For a corded chainsaw, I love it!
Yes, it is corded. Get that part out of the way. When it comes to everything else, I love this thing! I wanted to spend money on a good chainsaw, and since I already had a 100’ extension cable, I felt I could get away with a corded one. I shopped briefly and settled on this one, and have had zero regrets with it! It’s light, no start up process required, and is perfect for any home sized jobs.

The Easiest Tool to Cut Up a Tool With!
I was sceptical of how good this saw would be at such a low price. DON'T BE!!! This saw is amazingly simple to use and cuts like butter. Right out of the box I knew this would be a good saw. It is well built and super easy to adjust the chain tension on. Just add bar oil and go! I cut up the tree in the pic in an hour. BUY THIS SAW!!!
