If you bump in to the knobs on accident will the gas come on? Or do you have to push the knob in to activate the gas flow?
Asked by: Christopher
Hello Christopher! No, the gas won't turn on if you bump into one of the knobs. To turn on the unit you need to push and turn the knob. ^Penny

Do I need to buy a separate vent hood or is the stove vent strong enough on its own?
Asked by: duoteach
The unit doesn't have a built-in exhaust vent. It vents hot air from the oven through a grate at the back of the cooktop, but you'll need an exhaust hood or the heat will just be venting into your room. I believe, also, that gas stoves are supposed to have an overhead vent to prevent fumes from building up indoors.

30 in. 5.8 cu. ft. Slide-In Gas Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 483.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good with one (fixable) problem We have had this range for about a year. Only complaint we had was that small pots and pans would wobble on cooktop grates. Turns out the right and left side grates were bowed (not flat across surface from side to side) and low in center by 1/8th to 3/16th inch. I discovered this by placing a straight edge across the grate over each burner. This was a casting defect from factory. Samsung did replace the parts under warranty but it was an ordeal to explain the problem to customer service call center, and then they mishandled the replacement order. After four calls, about three hours on the phone (mostly on hold) and about a month delay the new grates arrived. They are flat and our pot wobble problem is solved, so now we are 100% happy with the range. I know some people worry about keeping the stainless steel top clean but this has not been an issue. We try to minimize spills and clean up immediately when they occur with damp cloth. Top still looks like new with no stains or scratches.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Don't Waste Your Money - 5th center burner useless We just built a new house and I was excited for all new appliances. After much consideration we chose the Samsung NX58H9500WS Slide in Gas Range - boy, I wish I hadn't! I was really excited for the center 5th burner but it is absolutely useless. It takes 15+ minutes to fry an egg! And don't even try to cook something more intense like a burger. The BTUs on it are supposed to be 9500, but its barely 6000 - which spread out over the larger surface area the results are useless. How ridiculous is that? The 2 right side burners take 12 seconds to ignite (versus the 3 seconds for the left burners - waste of gas!). Techs have been out 4 times to try to fix both issues, but were told by Samsung that the results are expected and it is working properly. I spent extra money to never use the center burner. Don't waste your money - and don't buy Samsung (I also have a Samsung refrigerator - which is fine, and dishwasher - which is just ok). Find better products, features & customer service elsewhere....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best stove we have ever owned Just installed this stove on April 16th. HD delivered right on time, and placed stove in kitchen floor, unboxed. After checking for any obvious damage, they left. That evening, with the help of my handyman, we took out our 8 year old Maytag stove, and had no problems making the switch. Being a slide-in, it was actually easier to get it into place. Was able to use the same gas valve and fittings. Took a while to level it properly on all 4 feet, and to have the overhanging top lip correct to our granite countertops, but was worth the effort. Tested everything, 100% working fine. The burners and grates were super easy to install. For the record, the removable cast iron griddle weighs 12.4 lbs., I actually put it on some scales, very heavy, so watch out when lifting it in and out, be easy to drop. Looking forward to fully using this new range and all its advanced features. Expecting good things about it, and saving over 500 dollars on the purchase helped out to justify it's cost. Still about half the price of a 30" Wolf.

Three months ago the oven locked and then quit heating. We purchased the extended warranty when we bought the range from Home depot. This range has been a disappointment. Burner heat is not accurate. Never has been. But the biggest issue is we are still waiting to get the range repaired. No parts! Seems Samsung doesn't manufacture replacement parts. I have called warranty company, Samsung and now I am going to go and see if Home Depot can help us. We talked to them earlier and they gave us the information on who to contact to get our range repaired. Never purchase this range!!!! I have read several peoples reviews who also have had a similar experience. So disappointed...hopefully Home Depot will be able to help us. We purchased three different Samsung products. None of them are currently working! We have replaced the micro wave (high end) and the French Door refrigerator with Magic Chef products. No more Samsung for us. They don't have throw away prices but they manufacture throw away appliances. One year and done. Junk!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE! Really love this stove. My husband originally wanted a professional-series stove, but I wanted to have something practical- self cleaning oven, convection oven, you get it. This fit the bill 100%. Stove looks really high end without having to spend an ungodly amount of money. We looked at several brands before purchasing this one. We wanted a slide-in, gas range and the pickings were slim. One other brand we looked at was $300+ more and the knobs were set on this horrific black plastic, which made the whole thing look really cheap. Not the case on this one. Everything looks really The touch panel control is really nice and easy to figure out. The timer alarm is pretty loud too, which is helpful. We haven't used much other than setting our own temps (none of the healthy bake, or pre-set settings) but we are happy with it overall. I do wish the griddle was a little wider. And I wish it was easier to wipe the stove surface clean (I guess I am just used to flat glass top electric) but I am very happy with this purchase. I would definitely, and highly, recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Happy so far I am happy so far with this range/oven. We have only had it about a month. There are a few features missing that my old Dacor had and it will take some getting used to. 1- Make sure to read the users manual as the one negative is described in the manual, that being this. When turning a burner down all the way to low do it slowly. The flame will go out and you won't know it until you smell gas or physically check it. 2 My only other complaint is related to that as well, if a flame goes out for any reason (turning it down too quickly, boil over, breeze from open window etc.) the burner will not automatically ignite again so you must be aware and not leave for long without checking it until you are familiar with it's operation. The feature that I like the most is the ability to go as low as 100 degrees in the convection mode (healthy cook mode). For me this is great that the oven can be used as a food dryer/dehydrator. It looks great and is easy to clean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Samsung NX58H9500WS I do not understand why slide-in ranges are so much more expensive than free-standing ranges (almost twice as much!), but we were in the market for one since our Whirlpool slide-in broke down after only 5 years of use. We have had this Samsung range for only one month, but so far, so good. We did our research and initially wanted to get a GE, but could not justify paying more for a similar range. Also, we like that the most powerful burner on this Samsung range is the front right one (as opposed to the front left burner on GE's range). The burner arrangement on the Samsung range just works out better for us based on the layout of our kitchen and our handedness. Samsung does not appear to have the best long-term reliability ratings and horror stories abound about dealing with their warranty service, so I hope we have no problems with it. Home Depot was excellent - delivery and installation were all timely and professionally performed.

The range top has plenty of room and burners. The burner controls are easy to use, provide precise flame control, and allow for plenty of cooking options. The cast iron grates are bombproof, and the satin finish stainless steel is easy to keep clean. The oven is spacious with accurate cooking temperatures. This is my first convection stove oven. I find the heat to be very consistent, which is great for even cooking. I haven't found the convection settings to reduce cooking or baking time by any significant degree, but that might change as I continue to gain experience. Complaints from other reviews about the noise level of the fan convection and/or vent fans turned out to be unfounded. Our range hood is much louder. The stove is super-versatile, with a huge variety of settings. The controls are easy to use after only a modest learning curve. The included griddle and wok ring are nice extras, though I'd be just as happy without them. One possible issue I found is that small pieces of food can fall through the grate that covers the oven's vent fans at the back of the range. I believe a screen or other mesh covering on these vents would solve that problem. Other than that minor issue I've been thoroughly impressed with the performance, appearance, fit and finish of this slide-in range/oven.
