A: Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles can only be installed in a standard 1" or 15/16" grid. They will not sit well in a 9/16" (aka Slimline) grid. HomeDepot.com sells Ceilume's Oxford, Cambridge, Madison, Diamond Plate, Jackson, Continental, and Fleur-de-lis tiles which can all be installed in the 9/16" ceiling grid.

Answer This Question
A: Ceilume's Stratford ceiling panels can only be installed in a 1" or15/16" suspended ceiling grid. Click the following link to view all the Ceilume Glue-up tiles sold by HomeDepot.com : https://www.homedepot.com/b/Building-Materials-Ceilings/Ceilume/2-x-2-ft/N-5yc1vZc58iZaisZ1z1uyqi/Ntk-elasticplus/Ntt-Ceilume%2Bglue%2Bup?NCNI-5&sortby=bestmatch&sortorder=none
NOTE: Ceilume does not recommend gluing their tiles over a popcorn ceiling; the uneven nature of the popcorn finish substrate will make your ceiling uneven and "bumpy". It's best to remove the popcorn finish before installing any ceiling tile.

Q:Can recessed lighting be attached to these tiles?
by|Mar 18, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Yes, you can install recessed lighting in Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles. The International Building Code requires that all lights, speakers, HVAC grilles, etc must be supported by the ceiling grid or the structure above. For standard recessed can lights, Home Depot sells a variety of "new construction can light housings" to keep your installation code compliant. For "canless recessed lights" (aka "LED puck lights") you will need a canless light bracket. Please contact Ceilume at 800-557-0654 if you intended to install canless recessed lights and we can share a few photos of the installation process.

Q:Can it be installed over a popcorn ceiling?
by|Feb 7, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles can only be installed in a 1" or 15/16" suspended ceiling grid. They can't be glued directly to a ceiling. Due to the uneven surface of the "popcorn" ceiling finish, Ceilume does not recommend gluing any of their ceiling tiles directly to that surface.

Q:Would like to install it in the exterior patio. Can I do it?
by|Jan 25, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles are made from a thin rigid vinyl that is impervious to moistoure, but we caution against installing the Stratford in outdoor locaitons. Since the Stratford can only be installed in a suspended ceiling grid, there are concerns about windload causing the tiles to move or even drop out of the ceiling on a windy day and the effects of freeze/thaw cycles in cold environments.

Q:If one panel is damaged, is it easy to remove and replace? Or if you needed to remove a panel to expose a pipe, is it easy to remove and reinstall?
by|Dec 15, 2023

Answer This Question
A: Ceillume's Stratford ceiling tiles are lightweight and incredibly easy to install, remove, and reinstall. They sit in a standard 1" or 15/16" suspended ceiling grid like any other ceiling tile and are held in by gravity alone. Since their made of a thin rigid vinyl, you don't have to worrry about getting your tiles dirty when handling; they can be wiped down or rinsed with water and a mild cleanser.
