Q:Are these bulbs made in the USA?

Answer This Question

A:  Cree makes the LED bulb in China as mark on the stem of the bulb. That said most LED lights are made in China or another countries outside of the USA. However from my experience the quality of the product is well worth the price you pay for it.

A:  If you are talking about how long the entire bulb is, I would say it's about the same as a standard old incandescent bulb. Same shape in every way. Cree's might be a tad more $$, but they have IMHO, have the best CRI (color correct) but most of all... the longest warranty. It has taken me a little time, but I think I have changed out EVERY single bulb in this house to LED bulbs. And let me tell you, my family leaves on the lights ! LED lights will cost up front, BUT, save in the long run by far ! The 40w is fine for a night stand, table lamp, or in multiple light ceiling fan. The 60w is brighter. Don't try to do the wattage conversion math. Just use what the equivalent is on the box, IE.... you have 4 - 40watt in a ceiling fan that will look like 160 watts of light but only use 24 to 32 watts of electricity. And will be TOTALLY cool to the touch... no heat at all. More than enough light for my family room ceiling fan, and that room is 15 x 17

A:  The bulb fits a standard bulb base and is of similar length as a standard 60W incandescent bulb.

Q:Can this fit into an oven light socket?

    Answer This Question

A:  I believe that most oven lights use a socket that is like what is in lamps and ceiling lights. So, yes, it should fit. It fits in a standard screw in socket.

A:  No, no, no! Do not use these in an oven! They cannot take the heat. Stick with bulbs that are designed for ovens.

Q:We have switched over to LED bulbs years ago, but my question is life expectancy. While most advertise 20+ years but ours usually last about 3-4 years! Doesn't matter which brand we purchase... still short life

A:  They last the longest when operated base down in an open fixture. The electronics in the base get to hot if in a an encodes fixture or when operated with the base up.

A:  YES IT DOES ! Even Home Depot's house brand only carries a 7-10 yr. warranty on the bulb. And most will range from 5 to 10 & maybe up to 15 tops ! Except for "Cree", now there may be others, BUT.... For the biggest bang for the buck, checking all the boxes, it's has to be Cree ! The CRI- That is the Color Rendering Index, how TRUE the color is. The bulb doesn't make things look washed out or dull. Cree has the best most life like color. Cree does not get hot like standard incandescent bulbs, or florescent or halogen bulbs. And uses very little energy, and is luke warm to the touch after being on for hours. Cree's accurate on the KELVIN rating, so if you want warm yellowish-orangeish color pick low #'s 2700, if you want bright white (hospital blueish bright white color) pick #5000 on the KELVIN scale, & Cree will be dead on. And then there is warranty. They have a 20yr. that I know of. You keep your records/receipt (paper or take a picture of your receipt on your phone), I also with a fine tip black marker, write the date I bought the bulbs, on the white base of the bulb. And if anything goes wrong/bad with that bulb in 20yrs., you contact Cree and they will send you a new bulb !!!

A:  You'll notice that the "years" life expectancy is at 3 hours per day. If left on 24 hours per day, you'll find a bulb rated at say, 8 years will only last about a year. You'll notice on standard bulbs, they're often rated at "1000 hours" or "2000" hours (but will last longer at lower voltages, will burn out suddenly with a power surge, etc.) Typical LED bulbs such as these are rated for 20,000 hours (theoretically) but lower voltages will burn them out faster, leaving them on constantly will ruin them, and the base may overheat the electronics, yet the LED element itself will still be good! I have 12 volt LED's that have been left on constantly for years, no dimming, no burnout.. but the power supply will fail. I suspect a better design would be to use a 12 volt power supply and 12 volt LED bulbs.. unscrew the bulb part and replace the base.. but people don't seem to want to compromise on that.

A:  No it’s to big to fit in the oven. I’ll advise you to take the current bulb out and go match it with one exactly like it.

A:  Sandi, I've also been looking for an LED bulb labeled for use in an oven & have come up empty handed. I'm confident that you should only use a bulb labeled for use in an oven. Currently, that limits you (and me) to Incandescent bulbs only.
