Q:Does Insul-Armor with LVP directly on top meet fire codes? I understand when used in walls, rigid EPS/XPS foam must be covered with a 15 minute thermal barrier (eg sheet rock, OSB). Is there an exception for floors, or does LVP qualify as a barrier?

      Answer This Question

A:  If applied on a Concrete basement floor, or even a Slab On Grade main level, whatever flooring product is going over the Insul-Armor would suffice as protection since the floor is concrete. Please contact our customer support if you need to discuss further. help@dricore.com

A:  Hello JByne, The concrete would first require leveling as the Insul-Armor panels need to be installed on a flat surface. https://dricore.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Insul-Armor-Instructions-ENG_Sept-2022_FINAL.pdf

Q:Considering using this for a basement with concrete flooring. Is the idea that we use dricore on the concrete, then plywood on top of dricore and finally lvp or tile over that? Or is the plywood not needed?

                    Answer This Question

A:  I wouldn’t use this under tile. When I used this for my Client’s basement I used a floating vinyl floor.  No plywood is needed on top of it.  Just install the planks right on top.  The product is hard and sturdy and meant to hold planks right on top of it.  Perhaps you could install plywood if you wanted to tile, but I would be concerned that it is all floating and tiles would move and crack.

A:  Hello SxS5, The plywood is not necessary. For best results, please follow the installation instructions found here: https://dricore.com/products/dricore-insul-armor/ Please note: The LVP/LVT must be minimum 5mm thick at it's rigid point, not including the thickness of any backings/cushions.
