No I do not believe it can be used without the hand shower due to the way the diverter is integrated into the main valve. I think Delta makes a valve without the hand shower option

Would it be possible to ever replace the braided hose from above if it ever needed servicing? Once this is installed it will be completely tiled in with no access to the pipes.

What size hole would I need to drill for install? A previous question/answer stated both 1 1/2" and 2". Which would we need for a tub deck with tile? Why would one install be 1 1/2", and another be 2"?

Hi! Thank you for your question! As per the tech spec sheet below the 1 1/2" hole size is for standard installation types. The 2" hole size is for thick deck installations. https://media.deltafaucet.com/SpecSheet/dsp-b-r4707_D.pdf Best Regards, Tim

Unfortunately no. Just have to be careful with the shower hose. I think any brand would have the same issue.

It's been a while, but as I recall, there is a rubber gasket to prevent that sort of thing.

Hi! Thank you for your question! Yes, there is a gasket that creates a seal to prevent any leaking below deck. Best Regards, Tim

Can spout and handles be in 2 different ends of the bathtub, or do they have to be close to each other?

Hello YellowTie, The handles typically will need to be installed next to each other due to the design of the rough. It's possible* to install it the way you reference but we would not recommend it. Thanks for shopping with the Home Depot

I'm not sure I understand the question. It is not digitally adjusted if that's what you're asking. There is a hot and a cold handle and you can make it all hot or all cold or you can mix it. I hope that helps.

                  By|Mar 1, 2020

One handle is Hot and the other is Cold. Adjusting them individually will adjust the temperature. If you are asking about anti-scolding (building code to maintain the hottest temperature of 120), that requires a thermostatic mixing valve. https://www.homedepot.com/p/SharkBite-1-2-in-Push-to-Connect-Brass-Heat-Guard-160-Thermostatic-Mixing-Valve-24529/204498196 , https://www.homedepot.com/p/Webstone-a-brand-of-NIBCO-3-4-in-Brass-Lead-Free-SWT-Thermostatic-Mixing-Valve-with-Temperature-Locking-Handle-75103W/303131388 , https://www.homedepot.com/p/Honeywell-Home-Thermostatic-Mixing-Valve-AM101C-US-1/202264710

Yes. One handle is for hot and one handle is for cold.

                        I don't believe so

Not sure what you are asking. There is obviously a hot and cold handle. You have to adjust each of those to get the temperature you want out of the faucet or hand held shower.

Hi! Thank you for your question! The only way to adjust the temperature is either via the handles or your hot water heater. Best Regards, Tim
