There is the possibility that you trap moisture between the underlayment and the existing hardwood floor. This could create an ideal environment for mold, mildew and fungi. This ensures the lowest vapor transmission rate and permeance than any other underlayment available. ECF was created as an underlayment for use with vinyl plank, laminate and wood flooring.
