A:  No. It needs to be planted in the ground.

A:  Yes you can have them in a pot. I have five on my deck that faces south (all day full sun). The only requirement is to keep them well watered. Our summers ?? are in the 90's and winters in single digits, sometimes below zero degrees.

      Answer This Question

A:  Once the ground or soil is below 40 degrees I wouldn't recommend planting them. I got 20 in before the cold came. I'm planting the rest in spring. You can keep them in a garage till then.

        Answer This Question

A:  The growth rate of 2.5-quart Emerald Green Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis 'Smaragd') can vary depending on factors like soil quality, climate, and care. In ideal conditions with good soil and regular maintenance, they can grow around 6-12 inches per year. However, it might take several years for them to reach a suitable height for a screen fence. It's essential to be patient and provide proper care, such as watering and pruning, to encourage healthy growth and the development of an effective screen.
