Q:Is this ok to use with water as a flex vacuum hose? Thank you

      Answer This Question

A:  Hey Sabrina! This is a split flex tube so it wouldn't really work for vacuum purposes as the water would just flow out of the split area. All of our other flex tube products are split as well, hopefully this helps clarify things!

A:  Jerry....not sure what kind of wire you plan on using it for within the car but if it helps, I used this tubing to run an amp power cable from the battery of my Lexus Rx 350 to the back of a sub and it's been holding up just fine (been about 2.5 years now).

            Q:Is this product UL listed?

            Answer This Question

A:  No, it doesn't say it is UL listed. This is just a split sheath that is good to contain insulated wiring for extra external protection and organization purposes, like enclosing two wires in a single sheath. To my knowledge it does not serve as additional insulation for the wiring. I used it to encapsulate and protect some regular insulated wiring running from a floor outlet to furniture from a new puppy. Worked well.

A:  UL does not require it to be listed so it has not been tested.

Q:Can this be used to bring exposed spliced wires on outside of wall up to code?

                Answer This Question

A:  No, it cannot. Flex tube is not approved by UL for this type of application. Codes can vary from city to city, speak with a local inspector before repairing the wire, they may allow heat shrink tubing or a heat shrink terminal. Home Depot offers multiple options from Gardner Bender in both types of heat shrink.
