Q:For natural gas, what is the low range of ppm that this will detect?

Answer This Question
A: Hi, Rachel - As noted on the hd.com webpage "Just like a smoke detector, this device indicates the possibility of a gas leak that should be investigated. It does not provide a PPM indication, just that gas is/is not detected." The 4 gases it detects each have a different LEL ("Lower Explosive Level") and if it detects even a miniscal amount will alert the user accordingly. It does not have the required technology to provide PPM. Bottom line: If the detector alerts you of a gas leak, take corrective action.

Q:Will this device detect a natural gas leak through a wall? If not, what device would detect a natural gas leak through a wall?
by|Dec 7, 2023

Answer This Question
A: Hi, Penelope - It depends on the type of wall, the severity of the suspected leak, and they type of gas. It may also come out around electrical outlets and/or switches. That being said, we're not confident saying that it would detect a natural gas leak through a wall.
