A: Not as bought. However, I have mine on a timer which works well for me. I do not know if there are timers out there that work with a remote control. You would have to do some looking.

A: Bee, as long as the power source is feeding the correct power to the strand, it can be plugged into a properly rated (i.e. outdoor/weatherproof) remote controlled plug. Homedepot.com offers one.

A: Yeah, just buy a remote like the "Defiant Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Remote Plug" Model# RC-009A-1 (in HD store or online), its what we use to turn our christmas tree's on and off.

A: You have to make the outlet that they are plugged in to be somewhat controlled by remote. I believe HD has a remote control grounded outlet

A: Make sure your cord in that goes into the electrical socket is clean. I've seen many times will you will get condensation that oxidizes the plugins. Specially in a stormy weather location.

A: I would suggest checking all of the bulbs, not just the ones that broke. There could be a broken filament in one of the bulbs that you missed
