Q:Can this tool be used for reataching the lower starting section of Vinyl siding into the retainer?

Answer This Question

A:  The SRT2 should be able to be used to reattach the first piece of siding on the starter strip. Essentially, you want to start on one end and use the hook on the tool to open up the hem enough to get it over the starter strip lip and then slide it down the hem while pushing the vinyl siding tight to the starter strip so that the hem hooks back over the starter strip lip.

A:  Not that I know. I have never dealt with aluminum siding. The tool instructions say it is for vinyl siding.

A:  I believe it will, but it didn't work on my Vinyl sidling. Try it, if it doesn't work just return it. That is what I did.

          A:  Yes.

A:  The SRT2 is not intended to remove soffit covers.

          by|Jul 18, 2019

A:  Not really sure. Soffit covers are metal and this could bend it out of shape.

            by|Nov 10, 2020

A:  I don't think so. If it's aluminum soffit, it would bend it. The vinyl soffit doesn't hook together like siding, so I don't think it would work.

A:  This can be used. If you get started with this tool, you can slide across like a ziplock bag to reattach the siding as long as it's in good condition. It will take a bit to remove the tool but it's not impossible.

A:  This tool is intended to separate vinyl siding along the edges that snap together not to install it.

A:  You have to push the siding together to unlock them, and then pull out one. I couldn't get the tool to work for removal, but it worked ok for installation.
