Answer This Question

A:  Hi Floy. Thanks for asking! Yes, this is hardy in your zone 4. Make sure it is getting full sun (6+ hours). It is also not uncommon to not get blooms the first year. You are likely not past your last anticipated frost yet in zone 4 so give it a bit more time. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our team at helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com and send some pictures so we can see what's going on and further assist :)

A:  I don't know. There is a picture of the information card provided by Proven Winners on the Home Depot product page. I would guess that tag may get more scrutiny than a website description. It says 4.5-6 feet. I think I would go with that. Mine are only about a year old so I can't tell you how big they will actually get.

A:  Hi DaniLinda, Thank you for asking! Proven Winners Fire Light Hydrangea blooms on new wood each year. For best performing conditions, it should receive full sun in zones 3-7; afternoon shade is preferable in warmer areas. If you have any additional questions, please contact us at helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com or (734) 654-7485. Kind Regards, Nikki

Q:Can I plant this hydrangea at zone 9a?

A:  Hello, Pinklover; I don't see why you couldn't...I'm not an expert by any means, but seems to me that if you're going from areas such as mine, where it does get colder, you should be able to plant where it is not as cold; if you cover and protect your plantings in bitter cold, it should be fine. That said, I don't know why it wouldn't work for you. Good luck! It's a beautiful hydrangea!

              A:  So far yes

              by|Apr 10, 2021

A:  You can always try. Where you may run into issues is that zone 9a is warm over winter and this is a deciduous plant, so if it cant go into dormancy, it will not do well.

A:  They do best in full sun, 6 hours a day. They need full mornng sun and afternoon shade. I planted them making certain they'd only get afternoon shade because they need the morning sun to dry their leaves so they don't develop leaf mildew spots, especially in humid areas. So this plant would do better if the shade were afternoon shade. Hope this helps.

                  Answer This Question

A:  Hello Kimberly, Thank you for reaching out to us. Our Fire Light Hydrangea will be hardy in zones 3-8. Zone 9 may receive to much intense heat/sunlight throughout the summer, so it is likely that this hydrangea will not perform as well as it could in optimal growing conditions or even not survive. Check out our Let's Dance or Cityline Hydrangeas that will be hardy up to zone 9! If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out to us at 734-654-7485 or helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com. Kind regards, Tabatha

A:  No. This hydrangea is hardy up to zone 7. I'd search hydrangea for zone 9 to find a compatible one for your zone.
