Q:I hope to use several of these panels to cover a cable chase in my drywall ceiling. I will have to cut them into 15" wide strips to cover the space between two joists. The long sides will be supported but I am curious if the ends would need to be supported also.

        Answer This Question

A:  Our lighting panels are not designed to support weight. We would not recommend lighting panels for this application. We sell a variety of Acrylic / Lexan / Twinwall products in the Acrylic sheet display that would be more suitable for this application.

                  Answer This Question

A:  For the Egg Crate lighting panels, 48"x24" is the biggest size that is available. Please visit your local Home Depot location and go to the Millworks Department (doors and windows). They will help you get pricing on the 36" x 60" Acrylic Cracked Ice lighting panels. Please be aware that they are significantly more expensive not only because they are bigger but also because they are made from Acrylic which is much stronger than the Polystyrene that the Egg Crate is made from.

                    A:  No

A:  Unfortunaly they do not. If you are looking for an opaque (let's no light through) black plastic sheet that you can use as a ceiling tile you can use a standard black acrylic product and cut to size. Black acrylic sheet is available on homedepot.com.

A:  Did you see the video on the HomeDepot website, on this product's page? http://www.homedepot.com/p/Plaskolite-4-ft-x-2-ft-Suspended-Light-Ceiling-Panel-1199233A/202025149

A:  The best way to cut this material would be a hand held scoring tool. If you go with acrylic ceiling panels, it is best to use the scoring tool or a fine tooth carbide circular saw.

A:  I used a jig saw with a very fine blade. Was able to quickly cut the panel with no breakage. BTW - No way could you cut this product by score and break.
