A:  Yes, that is what I used it for. The slotted bolt head should be placed on the inside of the door to prevent a burglar from simply unscrewing the bolt from the outside. Even so, the metal disks are mainly cosmetic and could be dislodged or pried loose by anyone determined to do so, but access to the underlying hole by itself shouldn't allow a burglar to enter.
