Answer This Question
A: Hello Donjuan, Thank you for your inquiry about our products. You may use the vacuum without a filter if you are only vacuuming up pure liquid. That means no solid debris included. If you will be picking up liquids with solid debris even if it is sands you still need to use the wet foam filter VF7000. If you have additional questions you may call our Customer Service at 1-800-474-3443 from Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time or send us an email at info@ridgidvacs.com and we'll be glad to assist you. Q:Will the filter work with water or is there a special one?
by|Jun 23, 2024

Answer This Question
A: Hello Vicki,
Thanks for your inquiry. When picking up small amounts of liquid (less than 2 inches (5 cm) of liquid in the bottom of the Drum) the Filter may be left in place. When picking up large amounts of liquid (more than 2 inches (5 cm) of liquid in the bottom of the Drum) we recommend that the Filter be removed. If the Filter is not removed, it will become saturated, and misting may appear in the exhaust. When the liquid in the Drum reaches a predetermined level, the Float mechanism will rise automatically to cut off airflow. You will know that the Float has risen because Vac airflow ceases and the motor noise will become higher in pitch, due to increased motor speed. When this happens, turn off the Vac, unplug the Power Cord, and empty the Drum. After using the Vac to pick up liquids, the Filter must be dried to avoid possible mildew and damage to the Filter. The RIDGID Wet Application Filter (VF7000) is designed for your RIDGID wet/dry vacuum to use when picking up high volume liquids with debris.

Q:At about 75°F ambient temperature and under ideal condition (i.e. new filter, new dust bag, general household cleaning, etc) roughly how long can I run this vacuum continuously without causing any harm to the motor?

Answer This Question
A: Hello Jeff,
Thank you for your inquiry regarding our RIDGID vacuum product.
Our vacuums are designed for optimal performance when used in cycles of 8 minutes on, followed by 2 minutes off. This cycle allows the motor to cool down and prevents overheating, extending the life of your vacuum. Failure to follow these guidelines could lead to premature wear and potential safety hazards.
Additionally, we strongly advise against leaving any RIDGID vacuum running unattended at any time.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our dedicated Customer Service team at 1-800-474-3443, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time. Alternatively, you can email us at info@ridgidvacs.com, and we will be happy to assist you.

Q:Would using the dust bag reduce the suction power? I want to use a dust bag but don't want to lose too much power, can I run the vacuum with a dust bag but without the filter?
by|Jun 10, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Hello Jeff,
Thank you for your interest in our products. The High-Efficiency dust bag captures 99% of all particles 1/2 micron and larger so filtered air can still pass through. The suction power is affected if the bag is full and/or the cartridge filter is clogged.
You can run the vacuum without the dust bags, but we recommend leaving the cartridge filter in place, especially for dry pickups. Dust collection bags are completely optional on our RIDGID vacuums. Make sure that you have the correct type of filter depending on the usage of the vacuum. While not mandatory, these bags offer several benefits that can enhance your vacuuming experience. Firstly, they help keep the drum clean by containing the collected debris within a sealed bag. This makes emptying the drum much more convenient and mess-free. Secondly, using filter bags can further prolong the life of the paper filter by preventing it from clogging prematurely.
