Q:Is 7? the overall length, or the length of the actual shank used for drilling? In other words, how deep can I drill a hole?

          Answer This Question

A:  The answer from ITW Brands is incorrect. 7 inches is the overall length. The portion of the bit that drills is only 4.5 inches. Way shorter than 7 inches! The description of this product is misleading and should be updated.

          by|Jul 5, 2023

A:  7" is the length of the drilling portion of the bit.

A:  Yes. I used it to mount various sized concrete screws into brick this summer

                by|Dec 28, 2021

A:  Yes, just start with a smaller diameter bit so as not to break the brick.

A:  Absolutely I drilled dozens of holes in hardened concrete, many times harder than brick.

                        Answer This Question

A:  Hi DR, This is a 1/2" diameter drill bit. 1/2" Tapcon+ anchors require a 1/2" hole for installation. If you have further questions, please reach out to our team at 877-489-2726. Thank you!

A:  You might be able to get it to, but I would suggest getting one of the bits designed for regular (non-SDS) drills. They're less expensive, and made for that type of drill.

A:  If it’s a 1/2” chuck sure... If it’s not a hammer drill it’ll be labor intensive and will not work efficiently as it should Probably break from pushing it with too much force to get it too drill

                          by|Feb 7, 2023

A:  It will work, just not as fast. If you intend to do a lot of drilling, I’d spend a little extra money and get a hammer drill if you plan on doing much drilling, though. The difference in effort is significant.
