Q:Does the 5x5 vinyl structural post need the wood post? I read only the non structural vinyl post covers like the 4x4 need them. Also, is concrete necessary if using 5x5 or just gravel?

Answer This Question

A:  The 5x5 vinyl post needs a wooden post inside. Concrete is recommended as it will not be sturdy.

              Answer This Question

A:  Yes, this works great for that. It isnt as strong as aluminum since it is a nylon/pvc type material but It is plenty strong enough to hold sewer hose/parts

                Answer This Question

A:  YES, you need the wood inside to screw into when fitting the panels between the various posts you intend to install. Also, if you fit caps or post top lights, you need inner wood post to sit the post cap or light cap on.

A:  No. You need concrete to fill in the base to make it stable. I wouldn't use wood bc it will eventually rot and attract WDO

A:  Yes, a 4x4 wooden post is needed. Dig a 2 ft hole and set it in with cement and then slip the vinyl post on top.

A:  It depends on how much lateral stress the rails input. If the rails are also resin, or if the resin post supports only a water faucet, a wood post is not necessary.

Q:Is there any difference between this post and the Linden posts in terms of its color, shape and structure, aside from it being 1 foot shorter and blank instead of routed?

                        Answer This Question

A:  No. There are a variety of reasons you would use this blank post instead of a pre-routed post. The "LINDEN" is for use with the linden styled fence sections. You may want a blank post for a gate latch where the fence does not continue. I used them because they are cheaper and I could use a multi-tool to create pockets for the fence rails and save myself enough to afford other things. Now, depending on the location of the fence and wind exposure, a 9' post may be desired to have enough depth into the ground to withstand wind load. All things to consider and when you install gates, consider wind loads etc, use the structural insert and grout it properly.

Q:Will this post work as a center post between two Linden gates (Linden end posts/inserts/hinges on opposite gate edges) for added strength, stability and attachment of latching or locking hardware? I understand the post is not routed and is 1' shorter.
