I bought a bendable piece of drainpipe that matched our house trim. Then we cut the drainpipe attached to our gutter with a small saw...sliding the connector piece on was easy, and the other end fit into the hole in the barrel snugly (no need for a mosquito screen on that hole then) and new metal screws kept that connector up in place. We used a one-inch drill bit to install the second faucet high up on the side of the barrel...it just screws in. The barrel seems sturdy, it can be spray painted, and it filled (2/3rds) during a one-hour hard rain. One bad thing is we in north Georgia have to empty it now for the winter.

We have just installed two of these water barrels and so far we are impressed with their sturdiness. They feel as if they will last many many years.

Price is outrageous. You can buy these for $30.00 used. Just do an internet search.

The rainbarrel has strengths but is way overpriced. I like the spigot attachment, but the holes in the screen are much too large and with only 4 screws attaching it on the outside of the lid, things will get under and through it, e.g. gunk, plant matter, etc. and will plug the outlets in short order. It is not possible to frequently drain and take down a rainbarrel or remove the hoses to attempt to clear the outlets. Also uncomfortable with the fitting for the overflow hose - hangs too loosely.

This was a housewarming gift for my nephew upon the purchase of a new home. It was a complete success, except there is no cap for the overflow valve.

I felt the hardest part was putting in the overflow attachment. The hole could be a little larger and if a sealant is needed then would have been easier.

Great product! Robust material and easy setup. Used in son’s Eagle Scout project for irrigating isolated areas of newly planted trees and various species of plants native to Eaton Canyon in Pasadena California.

This is a very well made barrel, very sturdy. Mine arrived in excellent condition. It is pricey, but I believe it is worth the extra money, the brass fittings alone make this a standout.

This requires some assembly but all the parts are here for a fully functional rain barrel. You do need to add a stand or build one out of cinder block.

i have two barrels link together, I can water all week on the two. I have installed a inline sprinkler pump. Now i can water all over the yard. Saved me alot of money on the water bill

Great product and support

I did not expect to have to assemble the pieces given what I paid for shipping. It also came with a light film of whatever had been in the barrel previously.

Holds a lot of water but the valve leaks occasionally when full of water. It is very expensive for what you get.

Overall, very pleased with this product. It feels high quality and I think the best option for the money. There were a lot of plastic shavings from them pre-cutting the hole on the top that I wish they would have taken the moment to blow off, but I wouldn’t dock a star for that. These are much higher quality than most of the intentional rain barrel products plus it’s reused so that’s a big plus.

The barrel and fittings were OK. The inlet on the top is not large enough to accept a large water flow so I sawed out a much larger opening and covered it with strong wire and mesh screen wire. The barrel had residual of what I assume was vegetable oil from its prior usage. I am all for repurposing barrels like this, but HD should wash them out thoroughly before reselling them.

It's a good rain barrel. Only problem was there was a drip or leak at the garden spout. I had to flex seal all around the spout in order for it to stop leaking or dripping.

This is a great food-grade rain barrel. My husband easily installed the spout/faucet near the bottom for draining the water from the rain barrel into buckets for watering our garden and so far it is working well. He also drilled a hole near the top of the barrel and connected a hose to run into this upper hole, from the automatic bucket fill/shutoff attachment that he connected to the middle of our rain downspout. When the bucket is full to this upper hole, the water backs up into the shutoff and redirects the water down the downspout. Working great! This large 58 gallon barrel holds a lot of rain water!
