Off switch weird
This is the third 6 gallon humidifier that I’ve purchased from Home Depot. The first one lasted 10 years. The second one the motor stopped running after about a week, but Home Depot replaced it. However, this new model has a very weird off button. It’s a push button, but it has to be in a very specific position in order for the motor to stop running. It’s the only detail about the new model that I don’t like.

1800 sf split level home - does amazing!
Received a day early. Had to wait a week to use because the float rod bracket was broken - see pics. Once I got the new part it's been running like a champ! When I walk into the house I can feel the (55-59%) humidity at the door. No shocks. No static hair issues. No dry, bloody noses in the morning. House is comfortable. My only reason for 4 stars on quality besides the bracket is the difficulty getting the top installed after filter in place.

It does work Somewhat. Fundamentals are there YET,
CONS: 1. When full it uses ONLY 1/3 the exposed wick, 2/3rds is under water. 2. Top of Wick Frame is plastic a WASTE of moisture. 3. It does NOT have an Auto fill float, can't connect to water supply and let it fill itself. 4. The wick frame Does NOT stay in place. These humidifiers need to be made like REAL humidifiers. 1. 1/2 gallon of water. 2. An auto fill/shut off float. 3. A continuous pump to top of wick. 4. Wick needs to be higher up. AIRCARE, Fix! Works 10 times better now!

I would not recommend thus item! My sister runs it all day and we rrplaced the motor 3 times and need to replace it again. It actually looks like it melted and is scorched -instead we will be returning it.

          Pretty much useless
I bought this to raise the humidity in my 600 sq ft basement in winter and it did basically nothing. It runs 24/7 and it only brought it up 2-3% to put it in the upper 30% range. It's loud on fan setting 2 and obnoxious on 3. I have a space heater and a wall mounted fan running all the time down there and the humidifier is considerably louder than both on setting 2. The cord insulation has a big cut in it and a portion of the base where the top sits is broken also. The shipping box is undamaged.

Works great!! Would definitely buy again.
This humidifier works great. We use it in the main room of our house and it does a great job. We have about 1200 Sq Ft and it seems to keep up just fine even in our high desert climate (as long as we keep the windows closed). We run it on low most of the time, the fan is quite loud if you ran it on high, but I don't see any reason you would need to do that. It'll suck down your water too if you run it that high anyways. The 6 gallon tank is what sold me on this one. I pour in a pitcher of water in every day, but if I had a bigger jug, I'd just fill it every couple days completely full and it'd do the trick. My only real complaint (hence the 4 stars) is the build quality of the reservoir. The lower portion is a very flimsy plastic, it's fine 90% of the time, but if you ever take the top part off the clean or fill it or whatever (you don't have to remove it to fill it), it's a pain to get lined back up with the bottom because it keeps flexing around and doesn't get seated very easily. It's a minor thing and really doesn't impact the main function in any way, just an annoyance those few times you do.

Deducted a star due to necessary modification.
Assembly was very strait forward and simple. The unit is loud on the second and third settings. I modified the vent to improve coverage. Triple the wick life: Allow to run low on water. Temp-adjust float for continuous run to dry out the wick. Refill.

I am so pleased with this product. It was, for the most part, easy to set up and the controls are simple to set. The casters make it easy to move. The cord is very long. It is easy to fill and it runs quietly. I have had it about a month. I have humidistats in each room in my apartment. I keep the Aircare set at 40% and the humidity in the room farthest away from it stays at about 35% which is basically what I want. Depending on the outside weather it uses about 3 - 4 gal. of water a day. It runs until it reaches the chosen setting and shuts off until the humidity drops. So my only two complaints - I had a very difficult time getting the top to snap on - but I am an older woman with arthritis. I almost gave up but I did eventually get it on tight. My most serious problem with it is that it very difficult for me to see the water level. I think there should be dark markers inside that show water level and the fill line marker should be darker and larger. When I take it apart to clean it I will try to create these lines myself with a permanent marker and hope that will work. Now I must use a flashlight to see the level and make sure I don't over fill. That said, I would buy it again. The price from Home Depot was the best I found and I would recommend it to my family and friends.

Day one and fan motor is not sounding good
I took a chance after reading others having problems with med fan speed. The low speed works fine but when I turn it to med it sounds like its going to die. I found if I turn the unit off after setting it to med it gets better. Im not taking a chance of this thing dying on me just after 30 days. Its going back when I have time. Also it reads way higher then what the real humidity is in the room. I think they do that because the unit can put out enough moisture to really get the humidity up high. If they fixed the fan problem it would be a ok unit. They know its a problem and you will read of others saying the same thing. Have they done anything to fix it? no they still make it the same way. They probably don't think people will put the fan on med or high because it gets much louder. Im going to make a youtube review on this so look for that and you can see what im talking about.

This is my second Aircare humidifier and it does not disappoint. First, this is a very quiet machine. The fan has a low hum that provides a great white noise effect without keeping you awake. Second, the ease of filling it makes using this much better. The wick usually lasts me through half a season, running continuously, 24 hours a day. If you have electric heat then you know how dry a house can get in the winter and you know how important it is to add humidity. From static electricity to soar throats- dry houses are terrible, in the winter. Next, is the intuitive control knob; press on it for power than turn it to the desired humidity level and adjust the fan speed. That's it. Evaporative humidifiers are much healthier than "cool mist" or steam humidifiers which can harbor mold and make you sick. This is a simple, clean design and can be tucked away, quietly, in a corner to do its job all winter long.

The Aircare humidifier was somewhat easy to put together. Simply put the filter in first, then put the top and bottom together, then snap the wheels in and you are finished. That took approximately twenty minutes. The bottom part was slightly warped so I had to move that piece around to enable it to line up with the top. (Therefore the somewhat qualification) It is easy to fill from the top. It is not overly noisy. I am using it in my bedroom at night as it helps me breathe easier when I am sleeping. It has a two year warranty.

This humidifier is good because it holds 6 gallons at a time and can be filled from the top. The only assembly required is putting the casters on the bottom which just snap in, dropping the filter in, and setting the fan housing on top of the reservoir. I had trouble getting the two halves to fit together because the reservoir was a bit warped and I had to wiggle things around to line up. It has a digital readout so you can precisely know where your humidity level is set, but it doesn't tell you the current level in your room. The float is a simple styrofoam "bobber" that is relatively foolproof as long as it is positioned in the bracket made for it. The top fill means you can carry any pitcher to it and leave it parked. The filters are about $19 and need replacing every 30-60 days according to the directions. It needs cleaning fairly often to keep the crud out of the reservoir and it's size may prevent some folks from doing that easily. Using distilled water rather than our well water may work better in that case.

Living in Colorado, it is possible to go days or even weeks with the relative humidity outside hovering around 20%. Its even possible to have days with single digit humidty. Cracked knuckles and dry skin are a constant problem in the summer, and get even worse when the cold comes in the winter. Having a humidifier is an absolute necessity, it seems, but running around and changing the tiny tanks in every room of the house day after day gets very annoying very quickly. Not to mention, a misting humidifier gets much dirtier than the evaporative humidifier, meaning I have to spend time cleaning the tanks about once a week. However, this Aircare 6 Gal Evaporative Humidifier takes much of my pain away and saves me a ton of time every day. It takes a few minutes to fill up from the laundry room sink, but with the casters on the bottom, I can move it around easily even when its full of 6 gallons of water. Then... all I have to do is turn it on and it can run for more than two days without adding any water at all. If I turn the fan speed up, running time decreases, but the air gets moisture much quicker! There is one big downside to an evaporative humidifier though: the wicking filter must be changed every so often. This is easy to accomplish: just buy a new one. But, since this one humidifier is now doing the job of five other humidifiers, I'm still saving time and effort. I did find one flaw with this humidifier that will cause it to lose a star in the rating. The tank has a float, and the float has to make contact with a switch (thereby making a float switch) in the upper removable fan portion. I found it difficult to align the fan with the float and get contact between the two. If contact is not made, the humidifier will complain about there being no water and will not run. The good news this process only has to be done at first start, at any cleaning and when you change the wick filter... not every time you put water in!

For those interested in country of origin, there is no designation on the label attached on the product. But the supplied manual says "PRINTED IN CHINA". There are several inconsistencies about this product. First, the manual says to attach the float used to control /shut off the system when there is no water. But the "FLOAT" does not float. It is attached to a Float rod which connects with a metal switch. But you have no real way of being sure that the top of the rod connects with the metal switch because of the poor connection between top and bottom parts of the unit. Second, the water level indicator is within the internal housing and hard to see when the top is connected. I used a flash light to first fill the unit, and later added Black Duct Tape instead. Third, if the reservoir is filled beyond the limit it flows out a hole in the back of the unit. Should have had a bubble float there instead. Fourth, the wick is not reusable as it cannot be washed, only replaced at $20 each. There are no guides in the housing to accept the wick assembly. You just insert and hope it stays. Fifth, the top and bottom units do not easily fit together. It takes several tries to get them aligned. Sixth, the humidity setting increases as the unit operates instead of shutting down when maximum is reached. However, wheels do go on easily, and unit rolls well. Does shut off when it runs out of water.

Hello, Senioritcitzen! We hate to hear you had a hard time setting up your humidifier. We can assure you that the float rod will connect with the switch. Attached to the float rod you will find a white styrofoam piece; inside the cabinet, you will find a pocket at the base of the machine where that styrofoam piece fits. Once you've installed your float rod correctly, by placing the foam in its place and locking the retainer clip around the rod, it will ensure that the float will lift and touch the switch once you've filled your unit with water. The indicator light on the LED screen will show an 'F' if there is an issue with installation. This indicator light will aid you better in determining the setup. Regarding your wick and frame, our owner's manual has detailed instructions and illustrations that guide you on how to install your wick filter. To reiterate the instructions, you will lay the frame down on its back, unsnap the front grid, and then insert a new wick into the frame. We do not recommend using tape to manipulate the micro-switch as you will not be aware of when your humidifier is out of water. In addition to finding the pocket for the float, there are guides along the sides of the unit and ridges in the base of the cabinet, indicating where the wick should be placed, and there is a max fill line on the front of the wick that is boldly visible and it indicates how high the water level should go during filling. As for connecting the base and the cabinet, most of our customers find it easier to place the back of the chassis down onto the cabinet first, as this will allow the float rod to line up with the micro-switch. If you need further assistance with setting up your humidifier, please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-547-3888, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 to 5:30 Central Standard Time, or you may email us at info@essickair.com. This AIRCARE 6 Gal. Evaporative Humidifier for 2300 sq. ft., Whites,Is the perfect humidifier for anyone who needs one but dont want to buy a large machine thats hard to fill.6 gallons of water and will cover up to 2,300 sq. ft.Has a 3 speed motor and adjustable humidistat and automatic shut off .This was easy to put together ,just put the caster wheels on ,make sure the float is seated put the filter in then the fan motor sits on top.The sides are a little thin so you have to make sure you secure the top all the way around .You fill it from the front so no need to take the top off again unless you have to change the filter.and the check filter indicator. will let you know.It seems to run forever on a full 6 gallons of water, but I can sure feel the difference in the air, live in Nevada where the air is dry most of the time, this humidifier is fantastic, and im sure you will be happy with it.

The Aircare Evaporative Humidifier is a very nice attractive unit. It comes equipped with four rolling caster wheels which are super easy to install. This makes it a breeze to roll to a sink to refill. 6 gallons is a lot of water and it weighs a good bit. We live in Colorado where it is super dry almost year round so a large unit that does not need constant tending is a huge plus. Very simple set up! The only negative i found was that it does put off a bit of noise, great in the busy end of the house, not so much in a bed room. I am hoping that since it works for 2300 sq ft that it will do the entire house. Seems to be working fine !

I want to be sure to maintain the proper humidity this winter so I'll be using the Aircare 6 Gallon Evaporative Humidifier to do that in my apartment. I have a forced hot air heating system that does not have a humidifier attached. This unit is a simple fix to add moisture to the air. It was easy to set up out of the box. It comes with an instruction booklet that explains how to assemble the parts. There is a float with an arm on it that activates a switch in the fan section to ensure the unit turns off when there is insufficient water to operate. Water is added by pouring it into the front grilled section. There are high water level marks inside that can be easily seen. It has two control knobs on the top. One is to power the unit on/off, by pressing on it. The same knob also controls the fan speed, by turning the knob. The other knob controls the humidification level setting. It uses a wick to transfer the water to the air. I plan on getting some spare wicks at the start of the season as I know from experience I will need to change it a few times during the winter. So far I am very happy with the unit.

This is a large sized evaporative humidifier which holds lots of water (6 gallons). It is a simply engineered unit which has a 6 gallon water vat, and a wick which divides one side from the other. The top mounted fan then blows air through the wick and you get more humidity from simple evaporation. The fan has 3 speeds and the humidistat can be set in a wide range of humidity settings. The fan is not especially quiet even on the lowest setting which is a drawback and caused me to give it a mediocre rating. This will not make that white dust like some ultrasonic humidifiers do, also it is not a boiler or steam creating unit. It simply blows air through a wick which is wet from capillary action, thus increasing the level of humidity in the room. It is rated at 2300 sq feet which is alot, so hopefully its the only one you might need in these upcoming winter months. The fan does go on or off at the speed setting you select (1-3) when the humidity gets below your selection. I think it will work okay for those with soft water as wicks tend to get crusted quickly if your water is hard or has lots of lime or rust in it.

Hello, Mark! Our humidifiers are made to put a lot of moisture into the air. We would probably get a lot of complaints if they didn’t. With that powerful output comes a little more noise; most of our customers liken it to a box fan. If you find it bothersome, we recommend running your unit at the highest speed during the day, then reducing the fan speed while you are sleeping. If you’d like us to run through some troubleshooting with you, and make sure the sound you’re hearing isn’t a defect, please give us a call at 800-547-3888, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM CST, Monday through Friday. Nice unit, glad I bought it. And unfortunate side feature is that it blows the air straight up and thus fails to get air circulation in the room. Many other air conditioner units do the same thing. As can be seen in the picture, I used some bent wire to hold the grate up in a way that produces better air movement.

Using this to maintain adequate humidity for my guitars automatically. In a <300ft2 room, set to 40%RH with a steady temp of 70°F I top off the reservoir once or twice a week.

Delivered in a few days by Home Depot. Super easy setup ... just pushed in the 4 coasters, put the filter and float back in, and put the top on. Pretty quiet operation on low - I have it in my great room and dont need to turn up the TV :D Humidified this room to 50% in about 6 hours; now cycles on and off as designed to keep the level up. Using about 4 gallons a day in this 20'x28' room. CANNOT recommend for anyone with cervical disabilities as you need to truck gallons of water to the unit several times to fill it, and water is HEAVY. Be prepared to make many (10-15) trips or wheel it back ad forth to a water source. Only complaint is the STRONG PLASTIC SMELL that has yet to dissipate. Only been running it for 2 days but will call the manufacturer soon to see what it is I'm inhaling along with the humidified air. Gotta say, I'm a little concerned, but also tired of zapping myself with static electricity every time I move.

Great product. Three fan levels, we keep ours on level two in our living room. We can barely hear it. Keeps the lower level very comfortable. Easy to fill and operate.

I bought this humidifier a couple of weeks ago and it works perfectly. My upstairs bedrooms get really dry in cooler weather causing sore throat and dryness. This solved the problem, we now wake up refreshed and the air quality is great. I run it on low so it is fairly quiet. I love that it holds 6 gallons of water, reduces refill time. I have a tri level so I would not say the unit actually cover 2700 sq ft, maybe in a ranch style house. However I am totally satisfied with the performance and would highly recommend it.
