I love this paint, and I’ve seen my fair share. I chose this one for my kitchen cabinets and I couldn’t be happier. Extremely durable and covers nicely.

When purchasing new kitchen cabinets, I find kitchen accessories, such as refrigerator panels, tall fill, etc., to be outrageously expensive. My solution is to buy this paint and paint grade maple plywood and make my own. All you do is bring in a cabinet door and Homedepot will match the color of your cabinets. I have saved hundreds of dollars and I am able to make all kind of custom items for my new kitchen - such as book shelves. Highly recommend.

It's an oil base paint that works best in areas in the home that see a lot of activity, such as the kitchen. I bought a new kitchen Island and I wanted to camouflage the brown tabletop under my countertop. This Behr paint worked great under a dining area. This paint "hid" the brown color and made it fit in perfectly with the white trim on the island.

This paint was recommended for a metal door from the mud room to the garage. I used two coats as specified on the label. The coverage was very good and the door finish looks very good. Prior to painting the door, I replaced the sweep at the bottom of the door. The door now looks great.

Application was simple and smooth.

I have been a proponent of oil base paints for exterior painting anytime I would have occasion to paint my home. The properties allow adequate time to "brush out" the paint yet still flash over soon enough to prevent airborne foreign materials from attaching to it. This paint did not disappoint. One coat coverage, good flow out to a smooth finish and the semi gloss adds brilliance to the color. The weather protection and durability of oil base paint is well established. I find using such gives me easily eight years before there is an occasion to have to repaint. Not a bad thing for a home in Northern Ohio. This Behr paint is outstandingly easy to apply, brush out and fill and hide areas where old paint has been scraped and removed. If you are going to spend your time, effort and of course money painting yourself, this paint makes the job easier and the final result more rewarding than any oil based paint I have used in the past. I highly recommend Behr Semi Gloss Alkyd oil base. (caveat) Use a new brush for best results. Well worth it.

Excellent product with smooth brush application and streak free finish

This is the best paint that you can buy for furniture and cabinets and trim. I read a lot of reviews because I as surprised this wasn't 5 stars across the board. (Addressing most of the 1 stars): First, painting is 90% prep, 10% painting. This is also an ENAMEL. I can't see where people can get this confused. It needs to be applied in many light coats with a FOAM hot dog roller. NO other way. Also, this paint had fantastic adhesion, so this is your primer. SO MANY people talking how it is still tacky after the first coat on top of an oil based primer. First, never prime with oil product and paint with water based. Also, it is called sheen and you should understand those terms before painting, instead of saying "it's too shiny." Also understand humidity levels. I painted my Formica cabinets, absolutely no problem three years ago. I wish I knew about this paint before I painted all of my trim and doors. It has no tackiness to it, and I will never use any other paint for trim or furniture.

I bought this to repaint some old furniture. I've previously used regular latex paint for doing kitchen cabinets and the results were fine. The person at the paint counter recommended this when I told her I was doing furniture, so I decided to give it a shot. I had planned to use this in my Homemax sprayer. However, the paint is too thick for the sprayer to work effectively, and there is no way to thin this paint (at least the manufacturer recommends against any type of thinning). Second problem is that the finish seems very soft. Three weeks later, and I can press my fingernail into it and create an indentation. I dragged a small plastic item across it and it left a nice scratch. I went back and bought the Behr Premium+ Ultra and did the second piece using that. Much better results.

The employee at my local Home Depot recommended this as he said he uses it to paint cabinets. I was just working on a simple project of some wood side tables and an mdf organizer and they all came out incredible. I combined a gallon with about four ounces of Flotrol and used a brush for the tables and a roller on the organizers. They both look perfect, I definitely recommend this product!

Painted my brown kitchen cabinets white. They look fantastic! The paint was easy to apply and the brushes and rollers were easy to clean up with soap and water.

Wouldn't use anything else for cabinets! This was an excellent paint. I used a sprayer and couldn't be happier with the results.

This paint is awesome. I use it on most of my doors, cabinets, and trim. Especially doors in some apartments I paint and high traffic areas. It covers very nice a d has a quick recoat time. Only down side one and while is you can see the touch-up marks. Great paint that hardens when fully cured as well and has a nice leveled finish with is fantastic.

rating it 4 stars because dry time is very long. even after waiting 24 hrs to recoat it seems it hardens over time. goes on well but be prepared to wait a week for real hardness of paint to take effect. If using for cabinets, wait a week to place anything on shelves and careful with fingernails! Once its hardened its awesome!

I believe this is absolutely the worst trim paint I have ever used. If you like to paint, a lot, get this paint. It takes a minimum of 3 coats to cover over bare wood. Even over previously painted white, it takes two coats. The picture shows the first coat over a previously painted, sanded, white cabinet door, using a high quality brush.

Excellent one-coat coverage on primed interior plywood surface, as well as solid wood surfaces! Performed better than expected. I will continue to use the product for all my custom closet works.

This thick coating paint only took 2 coats to finish looked great and plenty to spare for touch up

I felt well enough to get do major touch-up projects like door sills, window sill etc before the family all came over for Christmas. My one big task was to paint over 29 year old dark gray stained basement stairs with bright white paint so the teens could relax go down to the extra sitting room if they wanted to. It took several days, however the stairs were noticed and were a big hit with everyone! The photo shows just how badly they looked and how the painted ones looked after just one coat. I did a total of 2 coats.

Its a little tricky to clean up. Have to use paint thinner on hands and brushes, water works on rig. With a little sanding it bonds very well.

Compare with Benjamin Moore paint, it is relatively cheap, but won't recommend. If you paint just big area like bedroom and livingroom, it might be okay, but not for delicate areas like trim. Use expensive paint if you paint delicate area.

Coverage was really good. I like the final product. Cleans well with damp cloth. I purchased Maui White, it looks great on my doors and trim. There is a slight lingering odor, but not unbearable.

I asked the paint department at Home Depot what would be the best paint to use for cabinetry that I built for a theater room. They highly recomended the Alkyd paint because of the hard durable, washable finish and its excellent leveling ability and ease of use. I choose the satin finish because it is in a theater room and I did not want it to reflect light back from the screen. I choose a dark charcoal grey color. The paint went on very smooth and at first I was impressed but after moving on a few feet I started noticing all the paint forming drip marks. I am an experienced painter and did not apply too much product so this was very strange. I fixed the issue by going over the area to smooth the finish before the paint drips dried. I waited 24 hours to apply the second coat. The paint was still tacky and would mark or chip just by touching it. I assumed it was a bad batch so i went and purchased a new can for the second coat. I let the first coat dry for a week before I applied the second coat with the new can. I applied the second coat and the appearance was very nice. After 24 hours the paint was still very tacky and i could not wire the cabinets so i needed to wait. I waited one week and then tried again. The paint was still slightly sticky to the touch but much better than a week ago. The moment I touched the paint in any way it scratched and was not repairable. Using the back of my fingernail, not the edge, I gently brushed it over the paint and it created white marking that could not be removed. Even soft pieces of felt scratched the surface. I took videos of the surface and how it scratched so easily and showed the paint department at Home Depot. They had no explanation and replaced the paint with a Kilz oil primer to go over the previous Alkyd satin paint and new cans of their standard latex paint. The had recommended not using latex originally because they said it can cause the doors to stick when going from closed to open. They had no other idea what to do. I am so angry because of the time wasted on this project. I painted two coats with a week in between trying to let each coat dry and now including the primer I have three more coats to paint to try to fix the cabinets which cant even be touched without marking them. On top of that the Home Depot paint team didn't correctly match the color in the next latex paint so it is now darker than what I wanted as I tried a test patch but I can't go back there and spend more time trying to resolve the color issue so I am just dealing with it. Behr should repaint these cabinets for me for all the time that I have wasted using this paint and for how far I am behind now on this project. Do not use, I used two different cans with the same bad results so it seems logical it is just a really bad product.

Took 3 coats despite the store's associate claim of great coverage. He recommended this over Rustoleum cabinet transformation, which we had used before with great results. Disappointing in purchase.
