    Over priced Cheap material
This product is paper thin. It’s plastic therefore no noise barrier, not worth the money! You can probably buy this in a China website for a quarter of the price.

Hi Malex, we're sorry to hear that you were surprised by the thin nature of the Stratford ceiling tiles. We put "Feather-Light" right in the product name, our listing states that they're .013" of an inch thick, and also mentions that they're "about the thickness of a business card". The Stratford has an NRC of .25 by itself and .50 with the Soniguard Drop Ceiling Insulation. Since they're made from a rigid vinyl material, they're quite durable despite their light weight. ASTM testing shows them to be "an order of magnitude more durable then mineral fiber ceiling tiles". All Ceilume ceiling tiles are made in the United States and are Class A fire rated, GreenGuard Gold certified for Indoor Air Quality, and are impervious to moisture. Considering all of that, we think they're a bargain and appreciate that you gave them a try in your home. Ceilume

It's simple to install and looks great as well. Unfortunately, being feather-lite, it cannot support any weight. So if you are looking to get recessed lights, then there has to be alternate arrangements.

Hi Atish, thanks for the kind words. We're thrilled to hear that you think the tiles are simple to install and look great. You're 100% correct that Ceilume ceiling tiles can't support the weight of a light. The International Building Code requires that all lights, speakers, HVAC grilles, etc must be supported by the ceiling grid or the structure above. Ceiling tiles should never be used to support any of those items. The good folks at you local Home Depot store have a variety of can light housings and LED light supports to keep your ceiling code compliant and looking good. If you're planning to install LED puck lights, please reach out to Ceilume at 877-492-5605 to get tips on how to properly install that style of light with the Stratford ceiling tile. Ceilume

A beautiful product. So glad I opted for the black ceiling tiles. I’ve had so many compliments on the new look. Because of the design of the tiles, they were also strong enough to support the newer light wafers!

      Too lightweight.
Lovely to look at but so thin and lightweight that I believe a breeze would blow them out of place. If I were putting them very high up where they could not be touched then perhaps they would have worked. Very disappointed. Ending up going with traditional acoustical tiles.

Hi JJ, sorry to hear that you were disappointed by the weight of the Stratford Ceiling Tiles. We understand that they're lightweight; in fact we put Feather-Light right in the product name. We also provide the dimensions and weight of the tiles in our product information. Happily, the Stratford tiles sit great in a grid despite their light weight and breeze is seldom a factor. But since all ceiling tiles can move depending on the amount of airflow they might be subjected to, HomeDepot.com has several different ceiling clips that will prevent the tiles from blowing out of the grid. Thanks for giving them a try in your home. Ceilume

Hi Gloria, thanks for sharing your review of Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles. You're right, the Stratford is thin! The very first thing we mention on our listing is "Vinyl panel is surprisingly thin but amazingly strong" In the product description we share: "Ceilume Stratford panels are formed from a thin sheet of vinyl that is only 0.013 in. thick, about the thickness of a business card" Stratford panels are made from one of the most widely used construction materials: vinyl and ASTM testing has shown that Ceilume ceiling tiles "are an order of magnitude more durable than mineral fiber tiles". Yes, the panels do flex when being handled which makes it easy to fit them into tight spaces. Once installed in a suspended ceiling grid, they'll last for years and years. And since they don't absorb humidity, they won't sag over time like mineral fiber ceiling tiles. We do appreciate you giving them a try in your home. Ceilume

The panels are very thin and do not provide the sound and temperature insolation of the old-style fiberglass panels. It is also not clear and not shown in the documentation how to install a ceiling air conditioning vent.

Thanks for your review of Ceilume's Stratford White Feather-Light ceiling panels. You're right, these tiles are very thin. In fact, that's the very first thing we meniton in our HomeDepot.com listing: "Vinyl panel is surprisingly thin but amazingly strong" But these thin tiles are no lightweight when it comes to performance; they're easy to install, impervious to moisture, don't harbor mold or mildew, and won't sag over time like the old mineral fiber tiles. The Stratford has an NRC of .25 and an R value of .012 by themselves. For increased acoustic and thermal insulation, you can use Ceilume's Soniguard Drop Ceiling Insulation to raise the NRC to .50 and the R value to R-6.0. The International Building Code requires that all HVAC grilles, lights, speakers, etc must be supported by the ceiling grid or the structure above and not the ceiling tiles. Please consult with the Pros at your local Home Depot store for a code compliant way to support an HVAC Grille. Ceilume

I was devastated at the terrible quality - these are thinner than a seven eleven cup they should. It calm these tiles I would have returned them if I wasn’t on a deadline - 700$ down the drain

Hi Mariah, we're very sorry to hear that you were devastated when you received Ceiume's Stratford ceiling tiles. We've tried our best to convey that the Stratford tiles are very different from the old-school mineral fiber tiles. "Feather-Light" is right in the product name, the first bullet point says "Vinyl panel is surprisingly thin but amazingly strong", and our product description says "Ceilume Stratford tiles are formed from a thin sheet of vinyl that is only 0.013 in. thick, about the thickness of a business card." Happily, that durable vinyl doesn't absorb moisture from humidity and won't sag over time so your ceiling will look great for years to come. We're hoping that as the years go by, you'll come to love the Stratford ceiling tiles as much as we do. Ceilume

The tiles look pretty however I was very surprised at how flimsy they are. I was expecting it to be like my old drop ceiling tiles as far as thickness & weight. Instead it’s paper thin and so lightweight that I needed to put my old tile on top of it to weigh it down. Thankfully I didn’t throw my old ones out but for the price I was expecting the quality to be a lot better.

Hi Tonya, thanks for trying Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles. We're happy to hear that you think they're pretty but very surprised to hear that you were expecting them to be "like the old drop ceilings as far as thickness and weight". The first thing we share about the Stratford is "Vinyl panel is surprisingly thin but amazingly strong". We go on to say "Stratford tiles are formed from a thin sheet of vinyl that is only 0.013 in. thick, about the thickness of a business card" The good news is that even though they are thin and lightweight, they're far from flimsy. ASTM testing has shown them to be "an order of magnatude more durable than mineral fiber tiles". And since they won't absorb humidity or moisture, they won't sag over time like mineral fiber tiles. We hope that as the years pass you'll come to love your Ceilume Stratford ceiling as much as we do. Thanks for giving them a place in your home. Ceilume

Thin as a paint pan liner
I have installed 1000s of ceiling tiles. These are not ceiling tiles, they are very thin plastic pressed tiles. Thin as the liner you use for a paint roller tray. I imagine a mouse running across one and falling through to the floor. That being said I don't hate them. Very easy to cut, like you can cut 6 sections at a time with pair of scissors. I'm can't tell how they will hold up to time, only time can tell. But a strong fan would make they fly up. Definitely not worth $10 a square

We're happy to hear that you "don't hate" Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles and have discoverd that they're easy to cut and install. We'd like to point out that while our Ceiling Tiles are thin (although not as thin as a paint tray liner), they're made from a durable vinyl that is "an order of magnitude" more durable than standard mineral fiber tiles according to ASTM testing criteria. And while light weight, they're not as prone to "flying up" as you'd think. Since all ceiling tiles can shift in the grid if conditions are right (especially in small rooms with one entrance door) every ceiling tile manufacturer sells hold down clips to prevent excess movement. When you factor in durability, cleanliness, good looks, and a 100% Made in America product, we think Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles are well worth the money and hope that you'll come around to our way of thinking after you've installed 1000's of Ceilume Stratford tiles. These ceiling tiles are great! They’re vinyl, flexible, lightweight, and can be cut with scissors. You don’t have to worry about chunks breaking off as you do with traditional fiberboard ceiling tiles. I only encountered one small issue. The ceiling tiles are so thin that the spring-loaded clips that secure the, lightweight (1.5 lb), low-profile, LED lights to the ceiling tile created enough downward tension that it caused a noticeable bulge in the ceiling tile. I was easily able to resolve the issue by using strips of cardboard between the ceiling tile and the spring-loaded clips. As an added measure of security for the lights, I secured them to the ceiling joists with wire.

Hi Anderw, thanks for sharing your thoughts on Ceilume's Stratford ceiling tiles. The Internatnional Building Code requires that all lights, speakers, HVAC vents, etc be supported by the ceiling grid or the structure above. HomeDepot.com sells LED Light Support Brackets to make your installation code compliant. Please give Ceilume a call at 800-557-0654 to discuss the specific steps of installing the LED lights/brackets in a Stratford tile. We're here Monday - Friday from 7:00 am - 4:30 pm PST. Ceilume

        great product!
really great product! ordered the free sample and it arrived quickly. I was amazed! the tiles are thin, but flexible, making install pretty easy. we painted an existing grid after having the white "color- matched" at our favorite paint store. laid in the new tiles, and the new ceiling was pretty spectacular. the cost is quite reasonable, the installation pretty easy, and the effect when done really spectacular. highly recommend his prouduct!
