Although the breaking point and the lock are very good on this tape, it tore at the 5.5” mark after only four months of use. I’m just a diy homeowner as well, so it didn’t get that much use. “Tough Series” it is not.

I need this tape to measure objects longer than 5 feet on roofs. I figured I’d give it a shot since I dropped my last tape off the roof and needed a new one in the word tough got me. The thickness of the measuring tape material itself is the weakest by far of any tape I have had. When you extend a tape out farther than 5 feet it collapses plus twists like crazy making it the most pointless tape ever. Sure the outside looks tough but the guts are pitiful.

Don't buy this product it twisted the beginning of the tape and doesn't allow you to keep it straight and steady

I didn’t try to drop it from 100 feet as the package says, but I have no doubt this thing could take quite a few drops from a 10 story building. The one downside is it’s big, for a 25 foot tape it’s just as big as the other brands 35 foot tape. One feature I didn’t know I need, the double sided printed tape.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tough tape. Fell from 11 feet and bounced with no damage. Tape retraction is strong and smooth. Clip holds tight and hasn't damaged pockets. A little heavier than my other brand 25 Ft but carries easy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great improvement from the original tough measuring tapes. I like this shape of the tape and the rubber over molding feels great in hand. Few weeks in using it every day the retraction is still very nice. I like the size of this hook, works great for all the things I need to do. Removable magnet is a great idea for when you need it and when you don’t, also really easy to clean magnet when remote. The tape lock is an improvement also, works great.

However, I had always tried different brands of tape measures along the way and usually found myself preferring the other brands . Once I started using the DeWalt Tough Series tape measure for some small projects, I realized they have really stepped up their game. I’ve used their tapes in the past, and they were just okay. I can tell they have taken product improvement seriously - this tape isn’t too heavy, fits well in your hand, the rubber and plastic grips are just right, extends/retracts smoothly, and is easy to read. I could live without the red inch markers (the ones that start over at 1 after 12”) - they seem to make the tape itself a little too busy and the user should be able to perform the necessary simple math in their head without the additional markings. I say remove the markings, but otherwise a great tape measure - good job, Dewalt!

It would barely fit in my nail pouch but thankfully the belt clip solved that. the drop rating on it is also a plus. Im basically a child at heart so once i found out this has a standing length of 15 feet... i was sold!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received my DeWalt 25’ Tough Series tape measure just as I was beginning the complete renovation of my kitchen. For me, it’s the perfect mix between my other tape measures as it is sturdy but not too bulky or heavy. I have small hands, so the shape and grip design makes it easy to hang onto, plus the (removable) belt clip comes in handy while moving about my shop. I attach it to my bib pockets so I’m not constantly searching for where I left my tape measure. It’s easy to lock and unlock unlike my XP which sometimes requires effort to release. I wasn’t sure I’d need the magnetic attachment but added it so I wouldn’t lose it. I know retrieving dropped items isn’t it’s intended use, but after a long day when your back hurts, it’s nice to be able to use it to pick up a dropped nail instead of crouching down. The large, double sided print is absolutely genius! I won’t use the back reading all the time but appreciate the option for when it’s needed. The overall length of the tape measure body is stamped into the side at the base and is also easy to see and read. The standout feature is awesome, I easily got it to 11’ before it started to arch. The hook is well made and the recoil is just right. I have another tape measure that routinely bites me. This one doesn’t have such a violent recoil, it’s smooth and controlled. Overall, this has replaced my past models as my new favorite tape measure. I can’t think of anything I’d change, it deserves a five star rating.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall the tape has features like many others you see in box stores. Great stand out length and easy to read marks. Body is average size while the weight is a little on the above average. The belt/pocket clip works as intended. One difference is this tape has a removable magnet at the end. The magnetic tip took effort to get on and I am not positive it will come off with ease. This isn’t a concern for me as in my field I utilize the magnetic tip often. Also once/if removed I feel without storage for it on the body itself it will get lost. The recoil feels much stronger then previous tapes I have used.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Dewalt ToughSeries 25 ft. Tape Measure will become your everyday tape measure. It feels right at home in your hand and has a nice weight to it. The tough outside skin that is easy to grip so not to slip out of your hand which I do all the time is probably the main feature I like best. Most of my work is done alone and having a tape measure that will handle long measurements is a must and this works out great. It comes with a small but powerful magnetic piece you clip on to the end. Didn’t know if I was going to use but afraid it would end up lost so I put it on. A week into using the tape measure I was installing a new tv antenna for someone, I was about 20 ft up a tower, harnessed in when I dropped my crescent wrench. Luckily it landed on a flat section of the roof only about 8 ft below me. I was just beginning to unhook my harness when I spotted the tape measure with the magnetic end clipped to my belt. Well lets go fishing. Granted the time it took to fish for the wrench and unhooking harness and climbing down was probably the same but fishing is fun. That little magnet locked right on that wrench and easily handle the weight. Yes buy this tape measure. Okay the picture that is posted with this review is staged so you see that it did happen.

Built very tough. The numbers on the bottom of tape are great. Looks and feels great. This is the best tape I’ve ever had.

I don't have to tell you it comes with a magnet tip, but boy it is strong, you can double the tape measure as a fishing pole for your lost keys or anything deep the tape measure can reach! Btw, because the tape is thicker than normal tape measure.. it can do a standout over15 feet!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The new tough series tape measure really has stepped up their game. I tested at what feet does it bend in compare to the original 25 foot. The new one goes up 139 ft will the original went to 107 ft. The stopper actually works on the new one where none of my older ones work. I like that it has measurements on both sides. The magnet on the tip is the icing on the cake for me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far this is the best tape measure I have ever used. Compare to other cheap brands (have 3 different brands) this one can stay straight up to 13ft long, plus accuracy is perfect so you can trust it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thought of of almost everything with this tape measure. Love the big numbers on both sides of the tape. It's rugged and can take a beating. It is a great idea with the removable magnet for the tip but just wish there was there was a spot to store the magnet when it's not in use.

Considering most projects require some sort of measuring, investing in a quality tape measure is always worth it. This thing is solid and you can tell when you use it. It worked great when laying down new floors in my bathrooms as well as other random projects. It now lives on my bucket organizer that I take everywhere with me when doing projects. I love the easy to read numbers on both sides. The magnet is very strong, stronger than I expected to be honest and the tape can close all the way with the magnet still on. This is so much nicer to use than my other cheap ones

I’ve owned many tape measures in my life so I feel like I owe Dewalt at least one product review for this gem. I’ve broken almost as many tape measures as I’ve owned, probably left a few in some crawl spaces, and sadly yes gone through many from harbor freight. Even if I lose this one tomorrow, it was well worth it for the hardwood floor project I just did. Full disclosure I’m not a professional but I decided to invest in a quality tape measure because of the hard cuts I’d be doing on this floor. It’s HEAVY duty and precise. Period. I was a little intimidated to be cutting out the wood for my custom hardwood floor registers, and this tape measure came through. It’s what you would expect for the price you pay, like buying a Cadillac I suppose. For framers, finish carpenters, flooring, sheet rockers, this is a must have in your tool pouch. Very satisfied!

This is exactly what l needed

This is the first time I have ever been disappointed with a DeWalt tool purchase. The removable magnet was very difficult to install for the first time, and I should have returned the tape rather than struggle with it. I finally succeeded in snapping on the magnet, but in spite of my great effort to use care, the end now twists. I’m left feeling foolish for having spent $25 on a tape that failed before I ever used it.

IVE HAD THE TAPE MEASURE LESS THAN A WEEK,ONLY TIME WILL TELL CHECK BACK IN 6 MONTHS ILL LET YOU KNOW. IT DOES HAVE A NICE APPEARANCE, AND EXTENDS 12' B4 BREAKOVER

Piece of junk. The actual tape split within the first hour of use.
